outlive your enemies

Got an onago fly drone from a friend who passed. Worst zero dollar acquisition of my life. I spent too long just battling the app to even install.

I think it was a kickstarter thing.

Worst: My leap motion I bought when I was 12.

Jesus I've never felt so old.

My best was probably the EVGA GeForce 2070 Super I got from their b-site (Remember that?) for like $280 just a few months before covid and the crypto nonsence.

Still rocking my 2013 MBP Retina 16/128. Everything still runs fast as poo poo, and it's mostly just used for browsing alongside my work pc and comes with me on vacations and such. It still works great with my iphone. They wont let me update to the latest OSX, though, which is insane to me. It's still a powerful i5 with plenty of memory and the screen is loving amazing. ppffpthpththh

Not sure what my best and worst would be...

Best:
1. C64SX - The portable Commodore 64. I took it with us on vacations as a kid. It was awesome. I played so many games and programmed dumb poo poo on it.
2. Amiga 500 w/ 40MB HD - This changed my life and got me into computers for real. The demoscene got me into programming, and I met a lot of cool people in town to swap warez with. I eventually wrote my own BBS software and became an associate distro site for Razor 1911 and met lots of cool overseas people who dialed in while I was still in high school. They taught me how to wardial and phreak for free long-distance calls so I could get even more software and talk to more sysops. Also wrote a few terrible demos that never really made it anywhere because they were terrible. Hung out with some game devs in town who showed off their A3000 and video toaster systems. If you owned an Amiga, it was like a club. Sort of like if you skated, or were into punk. Everyone was family.
3. Nintendo Gamecube cobalt blue that my parents got me before life went to shitsville for them. Mostly nostalgic more than anything else.

Worst: XBox 360 RROD the day I took off work to play Chromehounds. I put the disc in and... dead. My buddy took the day off and was waiting for me to jump on. I went out and bought another that same day and eventually RMAd the dead one and gave it to a friend. But gently caress Microsoft for such a poo poo system. Chromehounds is still one of the best mech games ever made, IMO. Nothing has come close to that MMO / PVP mixture of online that it offered. It loving ruled.

Best: Probably my AMD Phenom II 965 BE. Great processor, and it was my gaming CPU for a good ten years. I still have it in running condition, and with a 1060 6GB it can actually do okay in pretty modern games.

Worst: Maybe my Motorola One 5G Ace. Decent phone ruined by absolutely abysmal support. Motorola claims to be doing updates over longer windows and to do security updates faster, but I was so burned by them on the One 5G Ace that I will believe it when I see it.

Robots confuse squirrels.

Motorola was always dogshit with updates, I had the Atrix and it was a common joke among its owners that it was the "Out of Datrix" because it could take over a year for them to do full numbered Android updates.

Best: Reveal VE500 ISA capture card
Got me into video editing and the piracy scene back when we were uploading 160x120 videos on usenet. Eventually led to my career in TV/video.

Worst: Microsoft Sidewinder Dual Strike
Had no idea how to use this, tried it for like 20 minutes and gave up.

I assume I could have eventfully learned, but...
