Some people wanna be mean for the sake of being mean. Don't bother with them. Pop culture is so balkanized that it's perfectly understandable why someone wouldn't be aware of a pop culture phenomenon. No one watches or listens to the same poo poo. Attempting to shame people for their lack of awareness about pop culture is already dumb, but even more so given the current pop culture milieu.

I'm admittedly pretty comfortable in my alternative music bubble. If I listen to pop, it's alt pop. Alt and musicals. I turn 37 this year. I'm getting set in my ways.

Having just binged all three seasons this past week, I’ll put the order of quality as S1, S2, S3. Also, sooooo much penis. S1: the right amount of episodes for the tension and narrative to build, amazing acting by Armond and Jennifer Coolidge (got kinda annoyed by Sydney Sweeney, though), and a solid payoff at the end. It’s fun to see things go way off the rails both by accident and design, and it always retained its black comedy vibe. Absolutely hilarious delivery from Armond when he was like “now I’m even more uninhibited, so what’s it going to take to get to see you naked?” S2: could have been 6 episodes, honestly. The gays on a boat subplot turned out as expected, and Jack did a great job acting as the goon/gigolo. As for the others, I found Parker to be annoying after a while and not relatable, and Cameron’s accent sounded off. Would have loved to see more from F. Murray Abraham and Michael Imperioli. The “escort with a heart of gold” plot was okay, but could have been condensed. S3: same thing, could have been 6 episodes and it took itself way too seriously with some of the messaging, losing its comedic vibe. Rick and Chelsea were awesome, but Patrick Schwarzenegger wins the award for worst actor of the entire series. On the other hand, the best part of the whole series was Frank telling Rick about how he got sober and Rick’s look of bewilderment/terror as he started to go into details. Absolute zero payoff with him killing his father though, that was some Disney Star Wars level bad writing. The financial fraud subplot didn’t really go anywhere for multiple episodes and also could have been condensed. Same thing with the girls night out subplot. Great show, though. Hope they can get back into form for S4.

I like the way he was a complete caricature up until the boat trip. Afterwards I think the subtlety that he brought to his character's self discovery was interesting and very natural. That look on his face when he saw Chelsea run up to Rick was pretty profound...

There's a kind of stilted aspect to the character where you can SEE him performing, but it works well because the character is performing, he's putting on this front most of the time. I haven't seen Schwarzenegger in much else so can't say if that's entirely due to his acting talent or if it's partially that his particular affect is a great fit for the role.

Yeah. And I think the way he showed the cracks in this front in the backend of the season was subtle and well done.

Strongly support the pro Schwarzenegger takes. Showed himself to be a better actor than Dad by a mile.

Schwarzenegger has done a good job of sticking with privileged characters. Playing to his strengths as a Kennedy.

Put my vote in the he killed it pile. Overall I'd argue the acting was stronger than the writing this season with no weak links. E: Zion was a very minor character and brought so much to the few minutes of time he had. Unrelated there were a couple times Schwarzenegger did this partially open mouth smile and he looked just like his dad.

I have seen Terminator Jr in some absolute dogshit (Adam Sandler’s Grown Ups 2) and some things where he was decent but often being a proto-Saxon (Scream Queens, Daniel Isn’t Real) I think he nailed this character, even if he is just mastering his role of douchebag nepo baby. Gotta agree with people saying, that even liking their story myself, the weakest actor was Mook/Lisa, and idk how much of that is on her vs what she is allowed to do in a murder sex dramedy. Carrie Coons wins for most Needs Something Interesting to Do.

Mook has by some distance the worst actor on the White Lotus series. All she ever does is smile. Some of this is how the role is written, sure. But I can imagine a more experienced actor elevating the part.

But I can imagine a more experienced actor elevating the part. Mook doesn't work if she's elevated. She's Gaitok's dream girl that he doesn't really know anything about. Casting a world famous pop star and having her smile and charm her way through the role was spot on.

Mook Gaitok story line could have been omitted or replaced and improved the story. Or just made more interesting overall imo.

I think he did a great job playing a lovely rich kid who got a job in daddy's business and then gets his poo poo rocked by a woman he thought would just be another easy conquest.

Yeah if you compare his performance in episode 1 to episode 8 he's clearly a person whose perspective and outlook have irrevocably changed. I wouldn't say he's close to the worst actor. Valentin maybe who's a one dimension character anyway. I thought Lisa was doing an alright job although she was a little too obvious when she turned on and against gaitok everytime she learnt about his career path / principle changes

Rick's dad plot was built stupid from the ground up. For the tragedy of errors to occur Rick had to be raised with the story "Rick Hollinger killed your father" while never once asking the question "what was my dad's name?"

My favorite part of the show was when Mook pulled Gaitok aside and said "I need you to kill people. I crave violence and lust for the death of others, so you need to kill someone."

I was expecting some kind of return cut or reaction to drive the point home but that's it.
