Well he's just announced he's retiring from Formula One (Liberty). Says he is going to watch the races from now on sitting on the couch at home...

As always take with a big grain of salt but apparently stories going around in the Italian press that the Ferrari job was first offered to Siedl and he turned down that poison chalice lol.

Thanks Ants posted:Seidl also has history with the Audi group and the chance to return to Germany probably appealed as well Oh for sure, and it (officially) seems Siedl was offered Audi over summer so probably even if this Ferrari thing is true would likely already have been signed, but it is still hilarious to think that you could be headhunted by the most storied and one of the best resourced, (theoretically) in the race for the championship this year F1 teams and be like 'lol nope' and do a 180 to go build up a currently mid-tier-at-best team because gently caress that whole working environment.

Abisteen posted:Yeah F1TV is excellent value especially being able to go back and watch old stuff or turn the data feed stream on a phone or tablet while watching the race on a big tv. I have a feeling some lovely service like Peacock or god forbid ESPN is going to end up signing some exclusive US deal for streaming F1 and I won't be able to subscribe to it anymore without VPN fuckery. Thankfully the US TV deal got renewed last year and they didn't kill F1TV here as part of it, so we should be good for the foreseeable future.

OK five minutes into first ep of new Drive to Survive and I NEED a full season of Steiner and Binotto touring Italy in a Fiat 500.

Crain posted:Yeah the first 5 episodes all just go from preseason testing to Silverstone for the big teams, then 6-10 skip straight to Silly Season, the Red Bull Budget controversy, and a wet fart of a mention of Max winning the Driver's Championship. They did show Zhou (very) briefly in the interview chair in ep 2 after the crash. Nothing much of interest happened with those teams ultimately, probably DeVries drive is about it otherwise. If Vettel had gotten on the podium or something then maybe but otherwise his career just dribbled to an end and it wasn't a very notable departure. Also it's just very dependent on which teams they were embedded with on what weekends, who they chose to visit and what they can pull from that and stitch together a narrative from after the fact. Element of luck there but they just spend more time with the bigger teams anyway. Max's win was a wet fart forgone conclusion that no one even realized had happened so you know.
