This story is pretty widespread around the world. I remember first encountering it as a "traditional Korean fairy tale", but apparently it originally comes from Greece.

The Three Army Surgeons by the Brothers Grimm is a personal favorite. The three surgeons need a place to stay for the night and the innkeeper asks them to leave three of their organs overnight to prove their abilities. Or something like that.

i am a big fan of Big Klaus and Little Klaus. Early Hans Christen Anderson story. very chaotic and violent. very questionable moral. not for young ones but i told it to my teenage nephew and he loved it. doubted me at first but once he heard it, well, he was in.
