It probably doesn't count, but my first introduction to punk was in the 90s when Amoeba Records in Hollywood had a copy of "Saturday Morning: Cartoons' Greatest Hits" but as it was on CD, I only was able to hear it on my PlayStation and eventually, one of those blueberry iMacs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SL-5L1OmW4 I think that's what got me interested in covers.

I just found out I could set my alarm to songs from Spotify a few months ago. I thought it would be funny to set my alarm to "tv party" by black flag. Huge mistake. Every day for weeks I get tv party blasted in my face, and every day my add prevents me from remembering to change it. I am probably doomed to repeat a cycle of waking up horribly to tv party for the rest of my lonely existence. (Wife's gonna leave if I don't make tv party stop) Anyway that's my punkrock self own. I tried listening to the offspring a couple weeks ago and just couldn't stand it. I like derivative music, my third favorite band ever is BJM, but I have limits "Jennifer lost the war" is still a banger though

There was one day, early in the pandemic when I was bored and didn't know what to do with myself, when I listened to the first five Offspring albums in a row without skipping a single song, and I could at least sing the chorus to like 90% of them. Those songs are, for the most part, burned into my brain.

I will never understand how Samiam has under 90k listeners on Spoty. There is a docu on cali punk rock and you see how the actual greenday etc band members (at 12 years old or so ) looked up to Samiam, but somehow they never caught the general public. Trips is terrific.
