Because they’re freaking cool as heck even if the movie may not be; that’s why. Case in point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ynfi_juwtU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SsktbDkEhEQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tTdizdEIldM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oL3-rvaAOz8 for cartoon violence, I guess. Maybe the heyday for them was the 1980s (even if Don’t Tell Mom… is from 1991), but they seriously need to make a comeback, dagnabbit. Sally Cruikshank has a few more title sequences than Mannequin and they are all rad as gently caress. What are some other good animated movie title sequences to live-action movies? Correction: “heyday” in the OP should be “peak” because animated title sequences to live-action movies have been a thing for a long time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1A7bJD3atk You Are A Werewolf fucked around with this message at 01:31 on Dec 10, 2022 |

Christ the amount of talent in what I remember to be the unwatchable Mad Mad World is insane. Saul Bass did that one, and a lot of others that are animated but not humorous, which is what the thread seems to be going for. How about an animated title so good it started it’s own franchise: https://youtu.be/R4amWTwO1GM

Yeah, the Pink Panther is just all class. I love these old hand animated intros, I think the last one I saw was Catch Me If You Can and that's another Saul Bass joint. Maybe that was done with computers at that point so I don't know.
