Gigabyte is going to win on durability. Claw Viper is going to end the season the undisputed king of grapplers now that it's working. They need to take out Whiplash and Kraken and Quantum somehow still, but I think this is their year. Horizon is still an anemic punching bag for other bots. I think the only way the Mammoth / Starchild fight could be anything other than a boring shoving match is if Starchild bolts Hydra's anti-Huge bikerack to their tail, if only for the poo poo talk between the drivers and seeing Huge rip it to shreds. Triton is always a joy to see, but Copperhead is an all around competent durable and nimble bot, and it's going to float-like-a-butterfly sting-like-a-bee all over Triton and win handily. Given Kraken's driver's struggles to drive with the new centripetal forces, I think Lucky is going to dominate this fight. Minotaur v Cobalt is going to be fun, but I have no clue who's going to win it. I'll be rooting for the Brazilians.

Snowglobe of Doom posted:It seemed like a super bad idea for Shatter's team to go with forked forks which seem to be designed to hold the opponent at the exact distance where their hammer will hit them on the edge but prevent them from hitting their centre section. Not only did it completely negate their reach advantage but Beta has a massive armoured wedge protecting their sides which they needed to reach past Which was a poo poo plan. You don't design for 'one perfect hit if everything works precisely right'. If they had the power to pin Beta, maybe. But they're an omniwheel bot, they can dodge, they should know they can't push or hold. Supremely frustrating to watch.

Kudos to the producers for finding the one matchup that will have me rooting for Captain Shredderator. Mammoth/Deathroll has the best chance to be a surprise great match. That great big gangly bastard either goes out like a chump or puts on a hell of a show. Rest of it, lots of low expectations matches, so maybe with mine set to 'meh' it'll be exceed them.

Simultaneous KOs aren't that rare. Could totally see overhaul getting sucked into the backside of the bar, becoming stuck while simultaneously high centering shredbro. I'm still a little surprised they let Pain-Train-with-the-numbers-filed-off have a third try. They seem to be having the same kinds of problems as before, like they've improved nothing.

Makes me wonder... If you made a list of all 'scaled up' bots, how many of them actually worked?

I don't want to give production too much credit here, but I wonder if they're editing to support a DQ later in the tournament for Riptide, hoping for a 'well they had it coming' rather than a 'wtf, where did this come from?' moment. I would prefer if they just didn't allow assholes like an autism 'cure' fraud through the doors, but they missed the chance to set the bar for ethics and decency with that last year.

70% the snakeoil sponsor, 15% their just general douchy rich kid that's never been corrected vibes, 15% the accumulating minor infractions that again screams douchy rich kids that have gotten away with everything in their lives to date. I genuinely think the children on that team would grow as humans to get absolutely slapped down and banned for violating rules. The old guy is a lost cause that should be incarcerated for selling fake medicine.

Every year, a couple teams mention how little opportunity they get to actually drive their bots with active weapons. Who's driving the Destructothon bots? What's the chances that next season we have a crop of drivers with as much arena time as the most veteran of current drivers?

I've rewatched the pivotal hits on Slammo and I still can't quite understand what's going on.![]() Deathroll hits it, and it like sprouts a kickstand, then it gets hit again and now there's three?

Round 5 has the most painful matchups yet. I like almost all of these teams (I mostly feel bad for Starchild). Rooting for Claw Viper hard, money on Ripperoni to win over Hypershock for the spot.

Kudos to the editor. They cut to a driver shot right after Cobalt and Lucky disengaged that had me thinking we were going to see a huge reversal, but alas.![]()
