i like to doot a little bit. mostly with VCV Rack. for those not in the dooting know it's a virtual free version of Dr. Honked has i'm mostly a video guy and the best thing i've found to do with it is route MIDI into some envelopes and to other hardware or apps. it does that well |

"Oops Just Knobs" is literally just knobs glued to a blanking plate. i 3d printed a bunch of knobs while experimenting with knob designs and thought it would be lols.  however there is another ACTUAL module that i designed that's not in my rack right now (i took it to pieces to make somethin else) called "Oops All Knobs". this is six knobs, connected to an Arduino Nano, and sending the knob values out via i2c. this can then be connected to a Disting EX and be used to control it.

I doot sometimes. I just have a synthesizer and a midi controller and Ableton live. I really want a controller device for Ableton so I can actually play it. Like a Push but they're expensive. Right now I'm listening to others' doots and maybe it'll inspire me to do a little dooting tonight. |

I don't really doot, but last year I spent a couple weeks making chiptunes on a synthesizer cart for the gameboy advanced called Nanoloop I am pretty sure I posted these in BYOB at the time or made a song request thread and that's where most of these tracks came from https://soundcloud.com/moonrisefandango Many of the instruments are actually just heavily-modulated recordings of me saying "ooh" and "ahh" or making exaggerated gulp sounds or whatever, like Just Give Me Some (Outer) Space which is meant to be sort of an argument between two people where the only word either one of them says is "I" or inventory_ which is 100% mouth sounds (100% mouth sounds was the working title of the track) e: they are all badly in need of a compressor filter or something yeah ok they were based on a BYOB thread https://soundcloud.com/moonrisefandango/a-lake-heather-knows quote:there's a lake i know, in north ontario. it's lonely and secluded and there are two human settlements on the shores. the powerline cuts across the western tip and the clearcut follows it north. Unfortunately I realized after shutting everything off that I didn't name the tracks so I have no idea what the base presets for the synth and bassline are, so it is what it is I guess. I need to find a cleanly played loop section for the bassline and loop that, or see if I can somehow warp/quantize to be more on beat. Or leave it. |

Thanks for the link to Cardinal. Got it going in Ableton 11 Lite. I'm hoping that using Ableton's audio engine will sound better than Rack. I get mad artifacting in Rack with just a few modules. |

why does sometimes you put a gated vca on a drum sound and it makes it sound clicky?

might be the sudden change from off to all the way on, if you're just using an instant gate signal to control the vca. adding a bit of attack time with an envelope generator, or running your gate signal through a slew limiter to slow down the change might eliminate the clicky sound.
