On my way home. They didn’t try to come up with BS reasons to pay less than agreed but it was a lot of blaming GM Financial which tbh is probably right.

As I was leaving someone was walking in with the car they wanted printed out from the website and telling the salesman they needed it today and would “only” pay the price advertised on the website.

My insurance from Tesla is still active for some reason, picked up another 8 tests at CVS (and I'm going to order another 8 under her name, since she's on my insurance). I have a feeling we're going to need them. She has to get another documented (not home) test to stay out of work by tomorrow, hopefully my insurance is still good for a few more days.

Lowest it ever got today was 230ish - it's spiked back up to 300ish since then. I can't take any more of either med until around 6am, all I can do for now is drink water and try to flush it out. Or do the ER bit. Since I've been exposed to a COVID positive person since last night, I'm trying to hold off on any ER stuff (at least I have the bivalent booster though).

Even for type 1s, my insurance wouldn't cover any of that stuff, which is just stupid. I'm going to be uninsured at some point in the very near future, but it's a bit aggravating to find out my test strips cost half as much without insurance (same with most of my medications).

I've got 2 in every car, plus a full blown trauma kit in the truck, my shop, and the house. If I have my range bag, there's another one on that. I also carry Narcan and an EpiPen in my EDC bag. I have folding CPR masks, low dose aspirin, and glucose gel/tablets as well. You're most likely going to need to help someone with heart problem, diabetic shock, or a car accident than a shooting, so don't get hung up on the "tactical" bullshit.

Just an FYI, you can find free/inexpensive "Stop The Bleed" classes in a lot of places. Near me, it's $40. You can also watch the classes on YouTube, but hands-on is far better and they'll provide trainer equipment.

Don't buy tqs from Amazon, and stick to items on the CoTCCC list:
https://books.allogy.com/web/tenant/8/books/f94aad5b-78f3-42be-b3de-8e8d63343866/

The CAT is the industry standard, and is what I have most places. Quick-Clot is amazing stuff, but expensive. Regular compressed gauze is much cheaper and you'll need a bunch. Chest seals are also very useful, and can be cut to fit. ETDs are effective as well. However, you need training to know how to use any of these items.

Car accidents are super common and a tq can easily save lives. You won't kill the limb or cause an unneeded amputation if you use the TQ correctly. You will cause tremendous pain if it's applied correctly. Do not let the victim remove it.

Tourniquet the limbs, pack the junctions, seal the box. If you don't understand how to do any of those things or what that means, get trained up. Ditto with Narcan and EpiPens.

How long are epipens and narcan good when kept in a car? Narcan is easy to get (we have vending machines with it), and I definitely know people that might need it one day. Or I'd be fine keeping the spray in my backpack..

Narcan actually had it's expiration date extended and I know that expired/overtemp Narcan has worked ok for other people. EpiPens are kinda the same, check the color of the liquid, if it's still clear and colorless, it's probably fine. I keep my old ones around the house but carry a new one. Insurance covers them no question with a $5 copay, but I can't get Narcan for under $120 for 2 doses because insurance doesn't cover it. I need to get up to Boston where Brigham has it at the pharmacy for $20, no questions asked.

Looks like there's now two Narcan vending machines. One outside of a bar, one at a homeless center. I know where the bar is (one of my favorite food trucks used to be there), I'll probably head there today or tomorrow. It's free at both locations.

Sooo never leave it in the car, basically. Irony is the two vending machines here are outdoors, but the news articles say they get wiped out almost daily.

I'm saying that the labels say to never leave it in the car. People do leave them in their cars, so I know that it's not the biggest deal, but I'm of the paranoid type. Their longevity in elevated temperatures is a question I don't want answered by a dud epinephrine shot, even though I know it's unlikely to be a dud shot, but I must obey the paranoia

BraveUlysses posted:

Ours say to only toss them when the fluid is cloudy, so I'd just say to inspect them, and if they look good and aren't too far out of date, they should be good to keep. We just try to keep ours good as long as possible because her insurance doesn't want to pay for new ones and those loving things are expensive
