Opossums eat anything. They’re opportunistic scavengers as well as predators. Completely omnivorous as well as delightful little bags of hisses. They love fruits and berries most of all apparently. Also their low body temperature makes it hard for them to host the rabies virus so it’s extremely unlikely for them to carry or transmit it. Hooray opossums!

Anybody ever do a full body repaint of a US 1970s car? I wanna know how bad an idea this is, cost-wise

I wanna know how bad an idea this is, cost-wise a better idea than a full body repaint of a German 2010-2020s car ultimately it depends on how you want to go about it, what kind of paint/finish you want, if you’re also doing bodywork, etc. If you want cheap-but-(probably)-better-than-what-you-can-do-with-rattlecans-at-home quality paintjob, there’s always MAACO or your local equivalent, just be sure to do your own masking/trim removal at home if possible, and maybe plan to do an at-home wet sand afterward for best results

Yeah, I’ve looked at MAACO and they foolishly quoted me $4k to paint a 77 Lincoln at their highest quality. Buddy; it’s gonna take $4k in paint just to have coverage. There’s no body work that needs to be done, and I’d be doing all the disassembly possible to make it easier/cheaper, but I don’t see this costing less than $10-12k if I want it back to showroom spec. God drat rock chips, ruining my fun.

If you have a college/tech school that is local to you. Check and see if the auto body program instructor is looking for vehicles. Edit: That's how I had a bumper and fenders painted.

Generally we try to shoot for “100k miles and 20 years less”, or “a car of that age and mileage that was really well-maintained and got garaged every day and didn’t eat ten straight years of direct sunlight” or something similar. “Presentable”. “Nice”. If you need less than “showroom” it can shave a lot off your budget. https://youtu.be/_jNs4ouqAdQ

Earl Schieb painted my Swedish 80's car to their best spec in 1990 for a very reasonable $349, which is like $900 now. It was surprisingly good but it sounds like it's luck of the draw on those low cost options, whoever did mine was skilled with the gun and the car came back looking "almost brand new".

IMO, if you're talking about your grandfather's Lincoln, repainting that would be a shameful waste. Find a pro and/or Dr.Colorchip and fill in some of the stone chips. They are only original once.

I spent 1500 or so at a bodyshop sorting the farm truck in 2019 and got a solid 15 footer out of it. The body basically looked like a golf ball going in. I offered to do the prep work myself but they declined. The paint work was good enough to hit 'nostalgia' with all the olds rather than short circuit to lovely old beater. E: single color non metallic single coat like it originally shipped with.

It is my grandfathers Lincoln, but I wonder how much the premium color group (Metallic Cordovan) would be difficult to replicate and make look natural with paint and chip correction

Anecdotal, but my girlfriend said her series of rabies shots cost a bit over $900 (thankfully reimbursed by the Peace Corps, and years ago). I had mine in Georgia (the country) after finding a bat in our bedroom for less than $50

Palm Springs: recommended Saw some (I think) P-51's flying around for memorial day, they did about 15 laps of the valley here Arrived Weds, heading home tomorrow. Took us two hours to get here from LA, it feels like a Mediterranean holiday without 15 hours of flying. Love this place.

For just loving around it's probably a better bet than Forza Motorsport, which doesn't appear to be on there at the moment anyway and when it was it was a bit old, and track only, not "real" roads. 5 is Mexico. Forza Horizon 3 is Oz! A ver, very compressed Australia, similar to how GTA V is a very compressed California, but pretty cool. I haven't played on 5, but the one one 4 is an entire floating island of orange track. It's pretty neat. Hot Wheels Unleashed is pretty fun - you play actual Hot Wheels on Actual HW tracks, to scale in living rooms and such, as opposed to 1:1 "real" Hot Wheels cars in FH. Ether Frenzy posted:Earl Schieb painted my Swedish 80's car to their best spec in 1990 for a very reasonable $349, which is like $900 now. Prep work is the key, and on more expensive paint jobs, the labor therefor is most of the cost. More expensive paint is generally better, too, but it's mostly prep and labor. If you can do some or most of the labor yourself (feather chips, overall roughing up of the existing paint, remove as many removable parts and trim as possible - in fact, cheap paint jobs just tape around trim, lights, and emblems, meaning it doesn't get sanded well there, meaning that's where flaking and peeling often start - you can save on costs AND get a better paint job.)
