if carlton has a home game vs the saints it'll likely be at docklands as infuriatingly usual yes i know i know a good team would win anywhere

Teams need to actually come head hunting for the North AFLW side. I don't think they've ever lost anyone that they didn't want to and there's no doubt in my mind that their partnership with Melbourne University lets them give incentives outside of the salary cap.

Spedman posted:The Saints would genuinely love that, a home game at the G against the biggest drawing club in the league in the opening round when fans in Melbourne would be begging for some footy Saints actively lobbied for it. People dont really understand just how much money the MCG tenanted clubs pull in in their games. I dont have figures but we hosted Collingwood there about 2 years ago and made like a million dollars in profit off it.. which is like 4x what would be made from Docklands. The old stadium agreements were even worse, it cost us to host games if there was 25k or less so any home games versus Gold coast etc... were literally a loss monetarily for a club already in debt. Thats why the AFL handout allocations were important, that forced loss had to be compensated somehow. Testekill posted:Teams need to actually come head hunting for the North AFLW side. Them drubbing Hawthorn is an extremely bad look for the game as a whole and shows the AFL are absolutely incompetent at running this sport.

I mean one of the problems is there is no salary cap. The tier system promotes super teams, and the lower salaries overall mean prize money becomes a much larger incentive relative to the men’s competition

Blues somehow playing better in this third quarter as the rain is the heaviest all day, it's becoming a slip and slide out there

Four goals in six minutes was fun, having six in a row to end the game was great. Now we play an away semi final at home next week against the dorks. Hopefully a drubbing is on the cards, like a 70 point win in a semi final would be amazing.

Saints barely fired a shot today. Yeah injuries have killed us but theres some fundamentals to the game that they just need to clean up. Effort and not kicking to an outnumber again and again are two basics.

So the AFL are adding a wildcard round meaning more teams make finals than don't make it. What a loving joke, gently caress the AFL. Care only about money. Cunts. The poo poo thing is that fans will show up, but I really wish they wouldn't. No-one likes the idea.

Wildcard round is so stupid and unfair. What about teams 11th to 18th? There should be a super wildcard round where they play off for a space in the finals during the weekdays leading up to the finals. Gives everyone a chance

I could get on board with things like wildcard rounds if it meant the season would be shorter. Get to twenty teams, make it a nineteen round season (plus a bye) where everyone plays each other once (rotate who gets the home ground advantage each year), the top six teams go straight into the finals, and there is a wildcard round for 7th to 10th place to earn the last two spots. Instead, adding a wildcard round as things are now just make the season even more meaningless, as it drags on forever only to allow the majority of teams access to the finals anyway. Alternatively, why not make things completely insane and allow teams the option to trade draft picks in exchange for ladder positions Nutsngum posted:Saints barely fired a shot today. Key injuries in AFLW are massive. With only around 30 players on the list and the need to name 21 players each week, you end up dipping pretty deep just to field a side once you get a few injuries. The Crows played one of their best matches of the season so far. It really helps having the likes of Randall and Niamh Kelly back in the side, as well as Gould returning a couple of weeks ago.

Hawks poached a Bulldogs assistant coach literally the week before the 1-4 year players return from preseason. Assistant coaches have to be told prior to the end of August if they're being retained or not but apparently they can just choose to quit whenever they want.

Melbourne fixtured to play Essendon for the third time from four Gather Rounds. What a joke.
