In a cynical attempt to get some attention on social media, I decided to do this year's Swordtember prompt-a-day challenge. I did last year's in 3D and I had a lot of fun with it, but it was very time consuming, so this time, I decided on an art style that was quicker and more fun to iterate with. Here's the results from the first week! Day 1: Witch ![]() Day 2: ![]() Day 3: Rogue ![]() Day 4: Dragonslayer ![]() Day 5: Spymaster ![]() Day 6: Knight Errant ![]() Day 7: Oracle ![]() 7 down, 23 to go.

HopperUK posted:I love those! Thank you! Smik posted:Really nice! I've never heard of "Swordtember". What social media do you use? Swordtember is pretty new. It was started in 2020, I think as a reaction to the issues around Inktober. It doesn't really have a large audience yet, but unlike Mermay or Smaugust, doing a sword a day is a very achievable goal for me. I'm on Twitter, Mastodon, and Bluesky, but have less than 500 followers combined because I'm terrible at self-promotion.

My attempt at Inktober this year was thwarted by some hardware failures and difficulty in getting a new, functioning machine. Now that it's settled, I decided to give myself a different once-a-day challenge. So I'm doing an advent calendar kind of thing, only instead of candy or toys, I'm doing something everyone wants: Kobolds! Day #1: Floyd

I like it too! You gave the guy a little more personality. Today's kobold is Menko. I wouldn't trust him with that wand.

Wallabee posted:The soft palette you used for him is lovely. Thank you. After years of not really practicing, I decided to work on my color skills. Today's kobold is Alistair! He's the colony's only poet and only accountant (because no one else wanted those jobs). ![]() (Please let me know if once-a-day gets too annoying.)

She knows where the best berries are found. (Her neighbor's garden.)

Day 5 is is Cadwallader! He's got sprezzatura.
Day 6... it's Lucas! He says there's a lot of paperwork what needs to be done so outsiders can visit, but for a couple copper, he'll get that all done for you right away.

It's Momo! He knows a shanty for every sea voyage he's been on. (Three.)

It's Temma! For a piece of candy, she'll let you use her telescope. For two pieces, she'll show you the best place to use it.

![]() Today's kobold is Odelgarde. He don't talk much, unless he's reading out loud to you from his current book.

I really enjoyed doing these kobolds... I might make it a yearly tradition. If there are any tabletop gamers or papercrafters itt, I put all of the kobolds on a printable sheet for paper minis. And it includes their burrow, too!![]() Happy holidays!

Sitting Here posted:End of year check-in: Any ideas for a 2025 thread title? Are we fine with the same thread or would someone like to start a new one? My vote is for: "2025: finish something to the point where you want to post it."

Following artists on social media does a number on my self-esteem... I'll see an artist post something amazing, way outside my skill level, and then I find out that artist is half my age. So for 2025 (finish something) I've given myself the challenge to redraw pieces I did 20+ years ago. I'm allowed to make minor improvements to poses, color, perspective, anatomy, etc., but I have to stick to the original "intent" as much as possible. So here we go.

Smik posted:I'm surprised I managed to squeeze out anything artistic today Some days are like that. Growth doesn't always happen when you're working, sometimes it happens when you take a break and let things in your mind settle. Continuing on my 20+ years later repainting. I cheated on this one and added the cigarette, because I have no idea what I was thinking with that pose. I might do a finishing pass on this one later, after I let my eyes reset.

This was a reoccuring background character I was using a few years ago. Some readers started calling her "Swirls" because of her outfit and because I always drew her using a curly straw.

If anyone's interested in doing one of those month-long drawing challenges, MerMay is coming up in a few days, and the prompts are already out. I'm working on a small backlog so I can keep the pace.

Are you starting with a sketch, then pixelating? Or is it pixels from the start? I find it easier to draw on a regular cadence if I have a list of prompts, so here's me continuing MerMay:
