Carth Dookie posted:Handful of nuts and bolts deep down the engine intakes. Aren't the canopies generally a plastic of some sort? Breaking them would be difficult, but they would burn pretty good. Assuming the response to the fire isn't immediate I imagine that just throwing a couple of molotovs onto the top of the airframe would stop it from flying for quite some time. Aluminium & carbon composites don't really do well in fires, titanium will stand up much better but I'm not sure how much of a Russian jet would be made of it.

Storkrasch posted:Is the implication that the US wouldn't supply jets because Russia would destroy them with Kinzhals? I think the implication is that the US knows that beyond the world-ending ICBMs (that maybe don't even work anymore) Russia has nothing left in reserve that can touch them So even if they provide aircraft or whatever then Putin will not even contemplate bringing NATO into the battle

Fumble posted:Did they just jump kick a sheet of corrugated asbestos? There are non-asbestos versions of that fencing stuff as well, although the Australian manufacturer thankfully stopped making it during covid so insurance now has to replace your asbestos fence with something nicer when it blows down in a storm. Of course that bit they are using will definitely be the asbestos kind

Dick Bastardly posted:there's a drat wire just spooling out and dangling and dragging on the ground when this thing takes flight?? wtf 10km of fibre is going to either be very fragile or very heavy. A bit of a tradeoff there on payload/fuel vs randomly loosing them when you snag the wire

"Military targets instead" You'd think a defence secretary would understand that war is primarily a logistics operation, and in large logistics operations fuel underpins everything.
