I'm gonna guess by 2026 the majority of the schedule will end up on FS1/2

Huge downgrade for anyone who used Peacock. The Fox streaming partnership thing will cost for a month what peacock costs for a year, maybe more.

Peacock is great for sports imo, there's so much racing, and it's sure as gently caress a more functional app than Paramount+

Gonna be so much fun watching IndyCar in a side by side window while an ad plays 13 times during the race for Fox Nation or when FOX decides to Crank It Up.

The guess is it’ll be on Venu, the new sports-focused streamer that’s ESPN: The App without explicitly being that, right?

Could also try accessing the IndyCar streaming app via VPN, assuming that’ll be an option next year.

everything i've seen points to the international streaming option being unchanged.

IIRC Fox Sports is going to have a streaming package with ESPN, but I still have to keep Peacock for EPL and IMSA

Hi welcome to IndyCar, everything is so loving stupid

McLaren has sacked Pourchaire for Nolan Siegel, because rumor is Arrow is leaving McLaren and Siegel's dad has venture capitalist money.

Really interesting to see the teams' different solutions for displays about the hybrid status in FP1. Power using the left LED cluster on the wheel to indicate deploy and regen, Newgarden only using the LCD panel to show SoC, no deploy/regen indicators, Felix using a single LED with 3 different color states to indicate SoC, plus a pair showing deploy and regen. McLaren has gone full overkill and added 2 clusters to the top of the tub (like TC indicator clusters on a LMP car) that show SoC.

NBC also nailed the display on the telemetry graphic, shows SoC, as well as deploy and regen states. I knew the deploy and regen would be fast but holy cow, it's full to flat in like 4 seconds down the back straight at Mid Ohio, and regens fully by the time you hit the next straight between T9 and T10.

The sidewall rubber includes some made from a plant called guayule.

Yep, not sure they’re using it on every track but it’s growing as part of a sustainability effort by IndyCar and Firestone.

Guayule is a desert plant that was researched as a replacement for rubber during WWII when Allied access to the major rubber tree plantations in what were then the Dutch East Indies was cut off. However the war ended before mass cultivation / extraction could begin and cheap imports of regular rubber ended the project. Right now Bridgestone (Firestone's corporate parent) and the University of Arizona are trying to again make fetch happen this an industrial product, for climate resilience and all that jazz. To me it's a lot more interesting than the hybrid from a "future of motorsport" perspective, since having something that grows naturally in Arizona and makes rubber seems a lot better than getting rubber from plants that are normally planted on clearcut ex-rainforest in places that are sometimes international security flashpoints. Like the opposite of having Aramco sponsor a race, to me. The hybrid is still cool, though.

But what isn't cool is this Pato wreck, wtf https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DD4OgyWWxvc

I was in Portland this weekend for an event that wrapped yesterday, and had a free day today while waiting for my 11pm flight home, so went to Indycar.

Got GA tickets and no Paddock Pass but uhh they let us into the paddock and we sat in one of the reserved grandstands with no issue. Super fun time even with a dud of a race. Hooted big time about Grosjean. Just wish we would had gotten a FCY to bunch things up towards the end. Not sure I'd recommend Indycar at Portland if they don't find ways to make the racing better, but I bet the Xfinity races here are a hoot from what I've seen of those, and it's awesome to have a track accessible by public transit and by bicycle.

There was this little kid next to me with his dad for the first 10 or so laps that had got a Grosjean replica car from the merch stand and he would raise it to the sky every time Grosjean came round the T1 chicane. They then left and didn't come back so I missed the chance to see his reaction to the spinout.
