It is known among all and sundry that the tensions between the King and his great friends, family, comrades-at-arms, and advisors - collectively known as the Round Table, were wore down to the barest threads of civility. Accusations have been levied across the court at one another, and the impulse to defend pride and honor had been kept entirely in check by the Knights' collective duty to their King.

And now, the King is dead. With no heir apparent to the throne, and the knights' various sensibilities at odds with each other, it was inevitable that things might yet come to blows. The King had not appointed a one of them his successor, and the line of regency was broken. Some yet suspected that this might have been a ploy to crown a new King of the Britons.

This suspicion was seemingly confirmed the day after the King's death. On that morning, a horrificly powerful fog rolled across the hills, and not even the might fortress Camelot could fully keep this seemingly supernatural event outside its walls - within the castle, the seeping fog made telling friend from foe impossible. Rumors spread that the fog may yet last for days on end, as if the very land was weeping for the loss of Arthur. His Knights pointed blame and accused one another in the open, now: treachery was afoot - subterfuge was clearly at play. But who was responsible? They would have to convene, one last time, in order to find the truth.

With tempers high, it was yet to be determined if the twilight of the great King Arthur's rule would end gracefully, or in tragedy.

These are The Last Nights of Camelot.

Welcome to The Last Nights of Camelot, a closed Mafia setup for 16 players: No more, no less.

This game is intended to be a fairly newbie-friendly game, but may have some surprises in store. I have done my best to make sure the game is as balanced as it can be. To that end:

There are no 'bastard roles', such as Jesters.
There are no alignment-switching mechanics, involuntary or otherwise.
Your Role PM will be accurate, but does not necessarily mean all game-relevant information will be accounted for within it.

Days will be 72 hours at game start, and will be shortened to 48 hours for Day 4 onward. Nights will always be 48 hours max, but may wrap early if I get all actions resolved early.

Having a Discord account is required, but there will be no 'observer chat' for this game - all parties that require out of thread communication will have it provided to them by myself.

Having PMs is considered ideal. If you don't have PMs for some reason and want to play, say so and we can work something out but I'd prefer to engage via PMs where possible.

Rules of Engagement:

Don't be an rear end in a top hat. I'll repeat it, don't be an rear end in a top hat. Mafia as a game invariably results in players accusing each other of lying, bad faith arguments, or otherwise attempting to convince others that you are not who you say you are. People will get argumentative. Keep your engagement in good faith, even if you're scum. Don't take things personally, don't get into huge slapfights in-thread, and most of all - be civil.
This game is not flavor-solvable. Flavor arguments are more than welcome, but, given the flavor of this game is Arthuriana, do not be surprised if the setup is built to deceive you and your expectations.
Don't edit your posts within reason. Ninja edits for spelling and minor grammar corrections are fine within reason, but if you need to make a more substantial edit your post, quote it, highlight what you changed in the quote, and post it as a 'Mafia Edit'.
Don't fake day actions.
Don't post after you die or after the end of day hammer. If I forget to lock the thread for Night Phase don't post then either.
Don't quote or copy-paste any out of thread information, including your Role PM. Paraphrasing is okay but word by word comparisons are not.
Don't lurk. Please try to make at least 10 posts per game day that have meaningful content. If I notice someone who's clearly lurking, I'll nudge them. If someone continues to lurk, they'll be offered as a free 'Lights Out' execution, and their flip will be posted at the end of the game day. If the town executes someone 12 hours before the end of game day, posting requirements will be waived for that game day. I don't plan to super strictly enforce this unless people make me so like, don't make me, okay?
Don't do anything else that would compromise the spirit of the game. This includes, but is not limited to: Communicating with other players out of thread if you do not have a role for it, communicating with non-players out of thread if you're a player, exchanging coded messages, truth or dare, or other miscellaneous funny business.
If you need a replacement, please try to inform me by no later than Night 2.

If you sign up, please make sure to state your pronouns so people know how to address you, myself included.

This game will ideally start whenever Votefinder gets fixed, assuming that's after it fills.

I invite people outside the game to comment when it completes but I mostly just did not wanna go through the rigamarole of setting up a discord server when I had the game already scoped out and mostly ready to go. Maybe next time!
