So I guess there's a new yeast going around in hospitals that can infect your bloodstream and kill you.

It's mainly a problem for immune compromised people but anyone hooked up to an IV can get it. So basically if you get hospitalized for covid, a car accident, anything major like that you can catch this infection. Fungal infections are already usually pretty hard to treat so the fact that some strains are resistant to all types of antifungals is pretty concerning. I'm not trying to alarm anyone but I figure it can't hurt for people to be aware of it especially since it apparently is under diagnosed. Might be something to ask your doctor about if you have a fever that doesn't go away with antibiotics, if they aren't already testing for it. Stay safe out there goons!

I was reading about this. Apparently its only weakness is that it doesn't like acidic environments. And your hand skin is naturally slightly acidic, which is good, except if you wash them with soap, which makes them neutral and more susceptible.

So... if you go to the hospital, be sure nobody is washing their hands.
