On the plus side learning Latin helps you learn other romance languages, it's just you could just learn the actual live language in the first place instead of a dead one. I know what you mean. We were given multiple choices of language classes to take in high school. Spanish, French, German, Italian and Irish Gaelic. Gaelic was mandatory for the first few years because of 'culture/heritage' or some other bullshit. The only time I've found Gaelic useful is when I'm in the Republic and some smartass thinks he's going to make an rear end out of me by asking simple questions in Gealic. It's like they have no idea that we are mixed society up here. Polish would have been much more useful. A lot of Polish moved here after I left school and I served them drinks for years.
