This is my first mafia game hello. It’s 3:30am and I have a stinking headache. Also I’m town. It makes sense to me that Opop would claim their role if true, but they could equally well be town or scum and still want to claim it. Guess we’ll see who gets a visit

Also I was just thinking what pinball machine part would correspond to that role and I guess it’s the ball itself

I absolutely love seeing your username in the context of Mafia posts, tickles me every time. Returning home from holiday tonight, looking forward to getting on my PC and doing some real (terrible) scumreads. My 3am brain was looking sidelong at Ignatius and Sandwolf for some reason.

Ignatius M. Meen posted:Hi, I'm a pretty decent candidate for that (unless you still think I'm obvious scum, in which case you should actually case me). Okay I was already sus on Iggy but this post has tipped me over, why would you admit to being a non-redirector and make yourself a target for NK Even if it’s reverse psychology and you are a town-aligned redirector it would be a p risky move with unpredictable outcomes favouring scum ##vote Ignatius M. I know my newbie status is on full display here but I genuinely don’t know what argument this is making so it’s very hard to attack it. Best guess is that I put too much effort into a post for day 1 and that’s a faux pas? Or my argument is obviously awful, but that cannot possibly be the case.

I do take your point though and will refrain from name-calling. Sorry binus.

That’s useful food for thought, thanks. At the risk of soliciting more mafia dadding, why is mafia dadding considered bad?

Johnny Keats posted:I hear you in terms of what you are saying, but I don't like this response one bit. Having played with you before though, I think it is just how you play. Just so you are aware though, I get pinged when you talk about strategy for voting that entirely disregards the fact that we are trying to vote out scum. I’ll defend GW here because hers is pretty much my reasoning too, there just isn’t enough info day 1 to make it better than a coin flip whether the kill is town or scum, but the idea is to generate enough interaction during the day that people can examine the known town/scum result and make further reads based on it. If you don’t have a day 1 kill then day 2 is just relitigating day 1 but with the scum one death closer to victory.

I’m not a fan of Keats vote either but I don’t (yet) have a concrete alternative to propose

I've read over the thread again and reassessed, first off Iggy is now null for me after their explanations so ##unvote Based mainly on gut feel: Tentative scum reads: Infinitum, Paranoid Dude - inf has more votes right now (1!) so ##vote Infinitum, sorry dad Strong town reads: Green Wing, Punkreas Special mention: Idle Amalgam, brain says "lean town" but gut isn't convinced and I dunno why

I can also see the argument for taste being scum. I'm not comfortable piling up on either Keats or Stalinator, of course I'll hammer whoever if it comes down to the wire but I really think Keats especially is gonna flip town

Sandwolf is the only one who hasn’t, you can see full breakdown if you click through the votefinder graphic in the op.

I don’t know anything about in-jokes but I didn’t take the cop claim even slightly seriously. You’re EU time as well I take it, GW? Things move so slow in the mornings.

I wonder who is getting voted out. With only Sand not voting some people will have to switch. I’m happy to go Inf, Paranoid Dude, toal or taste but anyone else will require some persuasion. Maybe opop too for curiosity

Johnny Keats posted:The deadline has apparently been stealthily moved to 8pm EDT I believe this is an honest mistake but wow your posting does not do you any favours

My reads haven’t changed, still won’t vote Keats or GW but fine to switch to toal, taste or paranoid if any of them makes a late push

wins32767 posted:Hey folks! My company just left. What do I need to catch up on before the deadline? There are basically two schools of thought in the voting, some say Johnny Keats and Green Wing (who both drew attention to themselves early) look incredibly scummy and some say they look incredibly town. I’m in the latter category although starting to get a bit leery of Keats finally with recent posts Side votes have been argued for Paranoid Dude being low-key scummy, and toal and taste being lurky scummy

What is the definition of a power role?
Good morning fellow pinball parts! That looks like an acceptable night result, although opop’s role looks like it was kinda useful if he decided to play along with town. I definitely got redirected last night. And I believe Keats did misunderstand his role PM and could easily have gotten redirected too, which to me means Keats and Iggy aren’t necessarily XOR scum.
Looking at the binus flip I’m speculating that their mason partner will be the top left flipper and also have some kind of redirection power. Since the partner is presumably town I hope they will claim when they check the thread. Could be more than one partner I guess, dunno how big unconfirmed masonries usually are in games this size

Wow it feels bad posting several times in a row even though I know this is how Mafia is done, but things are just really quiet in the weekday mornings when I have the most time to play! I've been going over Johnny Keats' posts with a fine-toothed comb and I have to say, despite the seemingly scattershot and aggressive style, they are extremely internally consistent, for which reason I'm inclined to believe his roleclaim. I am also, on a re-read, believing that his action does in fact resolve first in the night: quote:I am the "coin slot". Nothing in this description is inconsistent with anything he's said before, as far as I can tell. I guess it's POSSIBLE that a redirect action targeting Keats might be resolved before deciding Keats' target, but that would be counter to the power as described, in my opinion. Therefore ##vote Meen and Toalpaz posted:by the way we are 1000)% killing kea(ts)n if meen flips town. (I also well remember I got a from binus when I jumped on Meen day 1 - that's right friend, discredit the posts targeting your scum buddy!)

I currently believe Toal is town and being honest in her reads but I still don’t see Green Wing being scum. In fact she’s one of my most confident town reads.

Idle Amalgam posted:I was in the unconfirmed masonry with bee and now I've entered another with someone else, but bee tried to push meen for town and put up toal, opop and win as scum. Can you tell us anything about your night actions or anything that targeted you? I’m confident you’re town and trying to gather information to figure out what happened with my own action. Same question to Toalpaz actually.

Fascinating yet annoyingly unhelpful, thanks.

I love how in tune Punkreas’ and my thoughts have been this whole game, with both of us being the newbies Paranoid’s arguments have turned me somewhat away from them as scum, but not changed my mind on the Keats/Meen issue. I think one of them is scum and that Meen is the more likely of the two so my vote stays there.
I get that there’s no good reason for Keats to assume that Meen doubled a kill but I don’t think Keats claimed that that part was a known fact, just his belief. What he does know, assuming he’s been telling the truth, is that 1) Meen has a doubling ability and 2) Meen is lying about being a doctor and got Inf eliminated by doing so. The main reason I believe Keats is that nothing in his account so far as been self-inconsistent. If he’s lying, then either he was provided with or invented a fake role from scratch at the start of the game or he’s been really good at not slipping up while inventing more info about it.
I see we’re already -1 right now so I’m going to say - hey Keats, I’ve been arguing your corner all day, if you truly have the ability you claim please lay it on me tonight
wins32767 posted:So Opop was a self aligned pseudo-rolecop per the role PM. Keats suddenly has a new part of his role that allows him to rolecop and claims he nailed Meen who counterclaimed the flipped Jailor yesterday. Do I have this all right? I wouldn’t say Opop was a pseudo rolecop, more of a pseudo watcher?
