All Elite Wrestling, an American wrestling company of minor note, announced tonight that it will be running a show called "All In" on Aug. 27 at London's Wembley Stadium:

This is only the promotion's second stadium show and the first on anything approaching this scale. The venue's capacity of 90,000 (subject to change for wrestling layout) makes it the largest AEW show in history by a great margin, nearly four times larger than the maximum audience at Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York.

A show of that size invites the question: How in the heck does AEW intend to fill the place, exactly? One would presume that all hands will be on deck to produce a big-time card, and over the next few months, obsessive wrestling nerds will pass the time by arguing over the best way to move tickets. I figured a spinoff thread would be useful so the mainline thread isn't subjected to every stupid match that pops into my head as a potential draw, and I invite the rest of you to speculate to your heart's content as well.

What's the biggest "money match" the company could book with the current roster?
Will controversial middle aged man CM Henderson make his long speculated-about return?
Will Sting wrestle his last match?
What wrestlers from other promotions will pass through the Forbidden Door (two months after the actual show Forbidden Door)?
Which English wrestlers will get the chance to show out in front of their home country, and which will be told "Sorry buddy, not even nationalism can get you on this card" (aka "Falling below the Kip Sabian Line")?
Which hot free agents could be brought into the fold?

Answer all these questions or none...on the road to All In :britain:

What's the biggest "money match" the company could book with the current roster?
No build: CM Punk versus Jon Moxley
Medium build: CM Punk versus Chris Jericho
Big build: CM Punk versus Kenny Omega

Will controversial middle aged man CM Henderson make his long speculated-about return?
yea

Will Sting wrestle his last match?
nah

What wrestlers from other promotions will pass through the Forbidden Door (two months after the actual show Forbidden Door)?
Will Ospreay
Zack Sabre Jr.
Kenta

Which English wrestlers will get the chance to show out in front of their home country, and which will be told "Sorry buddy, not even nationalism can get you on this card" (aka "Falling below the Kip Sabian Line")?
PAC (injured again or weird problems)
??? Jimmy Havoc

Which hot free agents could be brought into the fold?
Drew Galloway
Grizzled Young Veterans
Chris Ridgeway

Which lukewarm free agents could be brought into the fold?
Big Damo?

Which dangerously frigid free agents could be brought into the fold?
Harry Smith
Paige's Brother

--

i checked and cm punk is on the roster. will ospreay would be big money and could easily main event. probably will even. but he's not on the aew roster. as for anything else, don't say stuff about wrong stuff or stuff that can't happen. that's hosed up to do. i mean don't say stuff that i said is wrong or can't happen even if you're right. i wasn't telling you not to say those things. i had to come out of bed and edit this one because it could have been a massive misunderstanding that hosed with the entire thread.

Here's my first pass at a pulling-out-all-the-stops card that still keeps an eye toward having to book All Out a week later:

CM Punk and FTR vs. Kenny Omega and the Young Bucks
Kazuchika Okada vs. Jon Moxley - IWGP World Heavyweight Championship
PAC vs. “Switchblade” Jay White - No. 1 Contender match, winner gets title shot vs. MJF at All Out
Jamie Hayter vs. Mercedes Moné - AEW Women’s Championship
Will Ospreay vs. Bryan Danielson - G1 Briefcase match
Zack Sabre Jr. vs. “Hangman” Adam Page - Undisputed British Heavyweight Championship
Sting and Darby Allin vs. Goldberg and Samoa Joe - Sting retirement match
Jade Cargill vs. Saraya - TBS Championship
Orange Cassidy vs. Nigel McGuinness - AEW International Championship
The Acclaimed vs. Grizzled Young Veterans vs. Aussie Open vs. Le Sex Gods - No. 1 Contender match
Global Casino Battle Royale
Zero Hour: Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford vs. Adam Cole and Dr. Britt Baker, DMD

Stray thoughts:

-At first I had PAC in a title match vs. MJF, but then I figured doing a match for a title shot at All Out instead would create an opening where you can actually give the goblin a moment of triumph in his home country. (I know it seems pretty unlikely that AEW would let PAC headline a PPV at this point, but I don't think they'd have to worry about All Out sales if CMFTR vs. The Elite is a prelude for separate Punk/Omega and FTR/Young Bucks matches a week later!)

-On a card that depends on multiple free agents agreeing to work for AEW and one team getting released from WWE, I feel like the biggest pipe dream here is the idea that NJPW would let AEW have Okada/Moxley as a match. If I had to scrap that, I would probably do PAC/Moxley as the No. 1 contender match instead, and maybe run Switchblade/Nigel as the International Championship match since it feels unlikely that OC will actually hold the belt that long.

-I did this with the idea that Ospreay/Omega II and ZSJ/Danielson would both be Forbidden Door matches, but you can swap around the participants in Ospreay/Omega/ZSJ matches pretty easily if need be (e.g. - alternate configuration of CMFTR vs. Hung Bucks, Ospreay/Omega II for the G1 briefcase, ZSJ/Bryan for the RevPro belt)

-Jericho/Sammy is a much a more realistic opponent for Sting/Darby, but I couldn't resist the idea of Darby getting tossed around by Goldberg for a while

-Thought that entered my mind after adding the Casino Battle Royale: Nick Aldis IS The Joker

What's the biggest "money match" the company could book with the current roster?
triple header main event
kenny omega vs will ospreay 2
mjf vs pac for aew title
hayter vs cargill title for title

Will controversial middle aged man CM Punk make his long speculated-about return?
no.

Will Sting wrestle his last match?
no.

What wrestlers from other promotions will pass through the Forbidden Door (two months after the actual show Forbidden Door)?
zack sabre jr, aussie open, katsuyori shibata, tomohiro ishii, hiroshi tanahashi, vikingo, komander

Which English wrestlers will get the chance to show out in front of their home country, and which will be told "Sorry buddy, not even nationalism can get you on this card" (aka "Falling below the Kip Sabian Line")?
booked: anthony ogogo, kip sabian, pac, jamie hayter
not booked: session moth martina, joe hendry, jimmy havoc, regal after he gets fired again

Which hot free agents could be brought into the fold?
Davey Boy Smith Jr., Grizzled Young Vets, flash morgan webster, trent seven, grado (skit with danhausen, non wrestling role, tony will pay for madonna)

for selfish reasons i want them to book FTR with Bret as manager vs Killer Elite Squad. it will instead probably be Grizzled Young Vets vs FTR and thats okay.

Wembley? That seems optimistic. I assumed they'd just do Craven Cottage because it'd be rent free, but sure, run a show in the largest stadium in the country. Britain doesn't like an optimist. It's an alien mindset to our culture.

...Sort of? It's not 100% coverage, the seating is all covered but the pitch isn't.

Interesting Wembley fact for you all: "The stadium contains 2,618 toilets, more than any other venue in the world"

Anyway, fascinated to see how this sells because I really can't believe this outdraws Clash At The Castle, which was 62,000, nevermind Summerslam '92 which according to Meltzer was 74,287.

Plus there's a greater than zero chance that our border staff will still be striking in August because we're a dysfunctional failing state, which will either make it really easy or really hard to get in, depending on how fascist the Home Office are feeling on that particular day

Cool poo poo:
- CM Henderson is back. teaming up with FTR they'll take on the Elite
- D Bry vs ZSJ
- The money match is Omega vs Punk, so I think they'll do Ospreay vs Jay White. Possibly OC vs Jay White.
- Okada vs Mox would be huge
- Tanahashi vs MJF would also be huge
- Mone vs Hayter

Sad poo poo:
- Sting retirement match

Weird poo poo:
- Goldberg vs Wardlow
- If Mox doesn't fight Okada, he will be seconded by Onita and do an Exploding Barbwire Deathmatch

Not cool poo poo:
- Jeff Hardy Driver's License on a Pole Match/retirement match
- Marty Scurll debuts with Chasyn Rance. Their entrance music is Lonely Island's "The Creep".

Musical acts (all signed to Warner Music):
- Action Bronson
- Adam Lambert with Queen
- Blur
- Bruno Mars
- Craig David
- Gwar featuring Ed Sheeran
- Lil Uzi Vert
- Muse
