Mars Volta was one of those bands a lot of my friends got very into but I can't say I really cared about them. Like I don't even hate them. I dunno. Same thing with the White Stripes for me. Like they're fine. If they come on I don't mind, but I would never choose to listen to them.

im gonna have to deal with my boss trying to make everyone come into a meeting at 4AM today tomorrow night for my first day back to work in 3 months

Is she trying to make day crew come in at 4am too? Because that just seems sadistic.

I like the mars volta a lot but I’ve never seen them live and it sounds like maybe that’s the best way to keep enjoying them

Also I did an audition for a play last week and I thought I totally bombed it, but I got cast in a manageable minor role and I’m stoked about it. I’ve got a current show that I’m lighting designer for that is getting into plotting and cue-to-cue this weekend but I think I can still swing it to make it for the first read through. Already considering just booking leave for the show season in February though. Last time I was onstage and working my regular job I was so tired that I chose a nap sitting in a chair with my head on my bunched up coat on a table rather than food for my lunch break a couple times. It takes a lot of energy to give a performance, and it takes a bit of time to wind down too.

Yeah i had a day job and an active performance life all through my 20s and even with youth energy it was so utterly exhausting. It did mostly tend to feel worrh it and i miss it fiercely <3 huge huge congratulations, way to keep the joy of play front and center in your life

That show was... Something. I didn't recognize a single song. I mean they played okay and stuff but I'd have liked something more intense.

I shan't be ever seeing them again

Titanohyrax is an extinct genus of large to very large hyrax from the Eocene and Oligocene. Some species are estimated to have been as large as the modern rhinoceros. Estimates of body mass range from 600 kg (1,300 lb) to 1,300 kg (2,900 lb).

Feel like rear end and didn’t get much sleep last night. Wish I could call out the rest of the day

Very hard to make a call. The worst show I ever went to though was con truise. Doors at 10, opener played until almost 1 and con truise shows up late in the middle of this guys set and it changes DJs so abruptly. We should have left wait sooner then we did.

I think the worst act I dver saw was Bad Brains well past their prime. Locust were pretty disappointing live TBH.

Boredoms and Sunn O))) are up there for me along with Melt-Banana.

I realize I have three distinct stages when it comes to heating in the winter.
Stage 1 is turn on the spaceheater(s). That was 10/15
Stage 2 is turn on the humidifiers. That was 11/11
Stage 3 is turn on the main heat, which hasn't happened yet, but looking at the forecast and the current weather, not too much longer. Trying to make it till 12/1.

I just keep the heat at 68 and put out heated blankets for the cats. Anything lower and they are too miserable.

I don't think she likes the special sauce, Rick.

You run humidifiers in Maine? drat

Our heat pump has been doing good work - the gas backup hasn't kicked on yet at all this year, which is nice. And the built-in humidifier has been keeping us above 35%

If my wife weren't the world's coldest person I would also do this

After a debacle last year, I'm trying to use my main heating system as little as possible. There will come a time soon though where I won't have much of a choice. I still do now.
