i knew i was gonna have trouble going to bed because starra was zooming for like an hour beforehand. so i took my spray bottle so i could spray her when she tried to lunge at my ankles from under the bed. what i didn't see coming was her running back under the bed and leaping from the other side to bite my shoulder. she's such a gremlin when it's bedtime...

My mother in law got Topper one of those toy fish a few years ago. It scared the hell out of him when we turned it on. On a related note, today he ate more than he has been lately. A good thing as far as we're concerned, he has kidney issues and even on an appetite stimulant he typically doesn't eat as much as he should. Milo and POTUS posted:Someone somewhere had a big orange they named schoolbus and boy howdy I want a cat named schoolbus I had a cat named Shortbus. It wasn’t because she was stupid, it was because she turned up on our porch and she was super floofy, but she didn’t have a tail. She looked like she should have been longer than she was. I joked that she looked like the short bus that parked over the street (our neighbour drove the two trips a day little bus south of town in our wee little town in Canada). She was obviously an owned and quite fancy cat, so we put fliers up and got hold of the local SPCA, but she wasn’t chipped and nobody ever came looking for her, so she stayed and she was Shortbus. She was the most bestest girl. ![]() ![]() ![]() We think she was a Cymric, a long haired Manx. She had the Manx build with the long back legs, and she had a little butt pompom instead of a tail. She would sit next to me for hours and hours, but she was never a lap cat. She didn’t need to be ON me, just around me. I miss her terribly. My cat now, Clarence, does need to be ON ME. I knew what I was getting into when I had him as a foster kitten at four weeks. I’ve fostered over a hundred kittens over the years but this little dingus who needed to be on my chest or my shoulder or climbing my head, he was the one foster fail. He probably would have been fine in another home, and he had a couple of other foster situations before I officially adopted him, but something in me went “this little dork needs me”. He’s three years old now and still very needy with me but sketched out about people who aren’t me. He’s okay with one of my flatmates, but runs away from the other (my theory is it’s because she wears shoes in the house and makes too much noise on the wood floors). He’s a good boy tho. Snuggly and handsome and not very smart. He’s a himbo. We love the Clarence.

I don't have a great comparison photo from before because Sparky the foster fatty barely ever sat like a normal cat when we first got him, he was so heavy that he almost always would lay down on his side if he wasn't walking or sleeping. Nowadays he's playing a lot more with his toys and sitting and even jumping up onto chairs and countertops that he absolutely would never have been able to back in October. Despite the photos not showing it, he's lost a lot of weight in the past three months for this torturous "only 3 meals a day" routine. He also now has visible skin drooping down around his arms and gut like humans who lose a ton of weight do. He's still got a ways to go to really be in truly "healthy weight" status but it's going to happen whether he wants it to or not! (he doesn't)

So I got real tired suddenly and laid down for a bit in the living room, I think I'm still fighting something. Vera noticed I had laid down, got up from where she was sleeping and trotted over while meowing the entire time so she could sleep on me. I kinda love how she likes to make sure I know where she is by meowing whilst on the move.

He gets three meals a day? We just feed most of ours a dinner around noon except for a few that are on a min food diet, they get multi-meals. I guess if he was eating all day every day 3 times a day probably is torture tho

I guess if he was eating all day every day 3 times a day probably is torture tho Previously he was in the foster center with like 7 other cats in a room and they would have mostly unlimited food, and then he would steal any uneaten food from the cats that didn't finish their big bowls. A dinner around noon though? What PainterofCrap posted:We leave out a gallon mixing bowl of kibble. A lot of people do that, but our vet recommended against it because freefeeding is the most common cause of obesity (and therefore kidney issues and diabetes)
