Mercury_Storm posted:Kinda wonder, since fast foods and soda are unaffordable now (McDonalds prices have literally doubled and in some cases tripled from 10 years ago) if there isn't an upside for a reduction in consumption of poo poo foods and therefore obesity? I have to assume so. About a decade ago I dropped a little over 100 pounds and I did it by following only two rules when it came to what I consumed: 1. Don't drink calories. 2. Don't eat fast food. Those two rules and regularly going to the gym was really, really effective.

I was able to successfully convince my boss that I didn't need to take active shooter training because I work nights and our building that normally has 1200 people in it has maybe 10 when I'm there. I told him the only reason an armed intruder would show up in my office is if they had personal beef and I ain't running/hiding/fighting my way out of that.

anonumos posted:Taco Bell. One can argue about its quality from the beginning but the new cantina menu blows. Their ground meat tastes like whole wheat, the cheese isn't real (not even fake-real - it's just pure oil now), the flat bread is just Naan-shaped flour tortillas, and the chipotle sauce isn't the same. Even their chicken quesodilla is hosed up. I couldn't finish any item of the meal I bought. Taco Bell was sued over a decade ago because of the amount of filler, which included essentially sand, in their ground beef. I can't imagine it's gotten better since then.

Microsoft Teams is too easy for this thread because it's been designed to be the shittiest thing in the world with no hope of ever getting better. Design choices in Teams only exist to show you how bad other applications could be.

This was back in the middle 00s so I don't remember the prices but they were way cheaper than my home state. I've never been a smoker so all my smoker coworkers appreciated the cheap cigs and I appreciated their money.

je1 healthcare posted:Maybe it's the so-called labor shortage? Nearly every fast food place I see has huge "WE'RE HIRING" signs which I assume are for day shifts because they're not open past 10 PM anymore, and few people want to clean fryers AND stay up late if they don't have to. Not open past 10pm and a lot of places by me are still drive-thru only. Still often feels like pando times.

Even worse, my company spent like $5 million to build a whole new building that was supposed to cost $3 million and it was completed in February of 2020 lol

I was able to make the list disappear by setting the zoom of the app (on PC) to 115%. It's like the developers don't ever actually use their product so they just have to guess at how people may want to utilize it, making this meme truly evergreen.

One of my dad's coworkers was a part-time bookie and he'd come in every Sunday with a wad of cash from his weekend collections. He had two types of customers: A) People who bet purely on vibes, like people always betting on their home or college team, regardless of the odds. B) People who thought they knew something about sports betting but didn't actually know much. This guy basically spent all his free time calculating odds and reading everything he could about whatever teams were playing that week, it really was a job for him. I asked if he took bets from people who actually knew what they needed to know to make a good bet and he simply said 'I try my best not to take bets from people smarter than myself'. That made a lot of sense.
