Anaglyph is the deck I've taken the furthest. I'm kind of burned out on trying to beat orange stake. Is there any consensus on the best deck to play at high stakes?

It's amazing how easy the game feels now going back to white stake to try to unlock some of the more esoteric jokers.

I just looked at the achievements. Completionist++ has to just be there so you can see if someone is cheating right? That is an evil achievement.

I just had a moment, not quite on the level of moving jokers, but still pretty boneheaded. After 50+ hours of play I just realized there is an option to speed up the game.

Made it to scientific notation for the first time. 5e24, crashed out on the boss blind of ante 16. If I had managed to slip a red tag into my king duping engine it would have been something amazing.

The important first step is to develop your economy. A decent +mult joker will get you through the first few blinds, while you're there focus on jokers and cards that give you money. If you do it right you'll be able to do 2-3 rerolls on every store to dig for those rare jokers later.

Extra money is the great luck equalizer.

Yeah, I'm really surprised it didn't officially launch on Android. The only problem I've run into is that the fire effect on your chips and mult is a little glitchy.

Get a joker that gives +mult in the first ante. Coast through the next two antes while picking up something that gives you money. Try to get to a place where you're getting $15-20 a round. every shop buy packs, vouchers, and reroll for tarots and jokers.

The boss blinds won't repeat, so if you get one that fucks a certain strategy early, you can safely invest in that strategy.

I had an epiphany yesterday about Balatro and why it works so well when so many deckbuilders don't. Most other deckbuilder games seek to abstract another game type like dungeon crawler or military strategy or tower defense into a card game. Balatro starts at the beginning with a game almost everyone understands then slowly adds complexity.

Draw poker is something that doesn't have to be explained in a tutorial. The game can then focus on drip feeding you the specifics of where Poker and Balatro differ. Most people coming into the game will innately understand the base mechanics of suits, ranks, the hierarchy of hands, the makeup of the deck, and the rough chances of drawing what you need.

It's a great foundation to build the game on top of.

I just want to be able to see which boss blinds I've faced. Sometimes an opportunity presents itself that would be instant game over if is face the wrong blind and I can't remember if I've passed it or not.

I have been playing this game off and on since launch. I've beaten gold stakes on about half the decks. I've gotten deep into exponential numbers in endless mode.

And this loving game still hasn't given me one of the legendary jokers. Forever there's that locked card on the title screen mocking me. I've gotten my share of soul cards, but for whatever reason one remains locked.

The worst part is that now I'm so desperate for it I've thrown away several really good runs because I had to sell a joker that was part of a load-bearing synergy because a soul card came up in a situation where none of the legendaries would help.

If I could change one thing about this game it would be to increase the drop rate of soul cards.

I've been playing this game off and on since launch and I still have one legendary joker that hasn't been found. I even spent the past couple days doing nothing but anaglyph deck runs getting arcana pack skips and got a grand total of one soul card, which ended up being a joker I already had unlocked.

On high stakes I will take three different skips on ante 1: Free shop, $25 for beating the boss, and mega arcana pack.

The arcana pack is because it has a very very rare chance of getting a soul card, but also jokers generated by the judgement card can't have negative modifiers and sometimes you get a good +mult joker that will get you through the first couple antes or you get something like a combination of a strength and a fool or a death and you can set yourself up for full house and 4oak.

I was cruising to a victory on orange stake black deck with a madness and two eternal brainstorms, and I added an eternal swashbuckler but didn't think about placement.

If I'd just slid the madness over to the left the total would have been in the tens of millions.

My most hated minor annoyance is getting a run-defining amazing joker in the first store that costs more than I could possibly have available on anything but the yellow deck.

I just pulled a negative blueprint, too bad it costs $15.

Yeah, wild cards are absolutely trash, unless there's some 10k IQ play I'm missing with them. Disabled by 4 different boss blinds, only usable for hands I never want to invest in, no associated joker like every other card type.

They need a joker or two that actually play off of wilds, two wilds per tarot, or being immune to suit boss blinds rather than triggering them all.

I had an idea, either a new layer in addition to edition and seal, grade and enhancement type or adding on to one of those categories.

"Mint" which would remove all modifications, including negative joker attributes. It could also give it something like a 2x boost to whatever attributes it has that degrades by 0.1 every time it's triggered until it reaches 1x.

"Sleeved" which would seal a card in a plastic case and prevent anything from modifying it, for good or ill, and make it immune to boss blinds.
