I usually skip about three times a run. Once in the first ante if it'll get me something really helpful to snowball, sometimes to boost money above 25, reroll if it makes sense of course, free stuff if I'm struggling.

That's funny, I had the exact same run last night and I was surprised how hard it carried me, I thought it might be a trap without much +chips and +mult. I took the second Stencil and was breezing through the early antes but I thought for sure it wouldn't scale, but I eventually got the Blueprint and with a few planets it was easy.

yep that's exactly how it went for me

half joker, stencil, oh I can dupe it okay bye bye half, scary for some mult...okay blueprint I guess we're just rolling with this huh

It was fun! Six decks golded now...

I've seen the kind of hands that you need to get that high and I have no idea how you craft them in a game with as much variation as Balatro.

I came real close and missed it because I forgot four of a kind is higher than flush, I was very displeased.

I’ve read this explanation before but it’s only just occurred to me that this means you could have, like, a foil glass card? Or a polychrome stone card??

Yup!!! With a red seal so it goes twice!

In my journey, I'm up to 11 decks golded, every joker except the 100M in a hand one unlocked, and 47/150 jokers gold stickered along the way. 11 challenges down.

I'm kind of interspersing annoying deck runs (black, or gold stakes of decks I'm not gelling with) with challenges in order, and someday I'll go down to white stakes and really try to get that 100M thing, I came close once and managed to mess up by creating a 4oak that is higher than flush, fuckin poker hands I swear.

Not totally sure if I'm going to grind for all the completionist++ stickers but we'll see.

My vote is blue actually. The extra hand translates to extra money *anyway*, and you have an extra hand for later.

Though abandoned and checkered let you really narrow your focus, which might help early on in the higher stakes.

Finally golded Plasma, which felt harder than a lot of the others, if only because chips don't *scale* in the same way.

But it only really took three jokers, foil square that I duplicated, got a ton of money, bull, and that was enough to high card my way to the end (and managed mister bones and the family near the end just to get them done)

beat black deck on orange, so I have just one more stake to go, three challenges, unlocking the 100M joker, and then all that's left is the gold stickering I guess!

Just got the 100M and jokerless done in one afternoon, both with telescope, it just solves so many problems

For the 100M, Yorick, Brainstorm, and then just boosting flush up forever with a bunch of steel and other polychrome jokers, it was pretty sweet, never even ended up using the card sharp. Given that I'm done with the deck golds, I think it's just the long path towards completionist++ left! Fabulous game, if I stop here I'll feel very much like I got tons of fun out of it.

Yeah, wild cards are absolutely trash, unless there's some 10k IQ play I'm missing with them. Disabled by 4 different boss blinds, only usable for hands I never want to invest in, no associated joker like every other card type.

They need a joker or two that actually play off of wilds, two wilds per tarot, or being immune to suit boss blinds rather than triggering them all.

I find them useful when I'm trying to flush with something like onyx agate or such.

kind of; I find it really, really easy to go for all straights, and those scale beautifully, so you barely need mult and chips, just multimult and utility.
