I assume no but is there a way to control my cars FM radio through Android Auto? I usually have AA up when driving but sometimes I'd like to listen to the radio and I'd rather not go through TuneIn and use data if I can avoid it.

There was news that Google was working on adding controlling radio to AA late last year, but to my knowledge it has yet to be released.

Thanks, the fact that it might actually be possible someday is more than I expected, tho I suspected my old rear end system won't be seeing that support if it gets released.

Let the fools who stand before us be destroyed by the power you and I possess.
Most head units let you keep the radio going if your AA media is paused, or at least that's how it is with the pioneer I have and whatever the gently caress is in my mum's RAV4. You might have to go back to the head unit home, start radio then flick back to AA

Fresh idea do not steal: a perfectly circular phone with only one edge, not like that Motorola bullshit with at least four edges. Put a case on it with loops for a chain/strap and you can wear it on your forearm or around your neck. gently caress off phablets it's time for a phartwatch.

Yea thats what I'm doing, I was just hoping I wouldn't have to leave the AA interface to do it.

Is there a way to change what percentage i get the low battery notification at on my galaxy S22 ultra? I'd like it to trigger at 25% rather than 15%, but there doesn't seem to be an option to modify it from what I can see.

Doubt it, but there are probably apps on the store that could send you a separate notification at 25%.

Any idea what causes an RCS chat to go in and out of encryption? The conversation with my wife has a lot of this:

We're both on Pixels, Google Fi, using Messages. My best guess is something with our connection, but I've seen it happen when we're both on our home WiFi.

Depending on what it is you want to do, Modes and Routines may be able to do it. I don't know if you can set it to notify you, but you could set it to go on power saving at 25%, for example.

This isn't the perfect thread for this, but I'm not sure which one it would go into. Can anyone point me to a reputable brand of adjustable power adapter? I recently had an issue with my cable modem, and I didn't have any other 12V/1.5A power supplies lying around to test to see if the adapter was the issue. And I don't want to buy a random one off Amazon and burn down my house with it.

Buy a whole cable modem off Amazon. Return it once done testing. Consider putting the bad power brick back in the box.

Under those circumstances I'd probably go with the BestBuy store brand just out of convenience. https://www.bestbuy.com/site/insignia-15-6-w-4-9-ft-universal-ac-adapter-black/5019131.p?skuId=5019131

If I were more motivated I'd take the modem with me to the local tech refurbishing/recycling place and dig through the power adapters there. The main things to be aware of are keeping the volts the same, that you can have more amps than needed but not less, and that plugs can be either center-positive or center-negative, electrically-speaking, and you do not want to use the wrong one.

Thanks for the replies. To be clear, I have already bought a replacement and checked the old modem with the new adapter, and it was the modem that was dead. I just wanted one for similar future situations.

I don't know what other situations you may find yourself in or how much you play around with electronics, but my benchtop power supply has bnailed me out many times, not just powering things with dead adapters but charging batteries. They are real cheap these days (like $50). https://www.amazon.com/Adjustable-Switching-Regulated-Adjustments-Jesverty/dp/B09YSJQWRG?sr=8-2

My android just went a bit wonky. I have 2 languages (english and romanian) installed on my phone, 2 keyboards at least (what I care about). They're handy for words suggestions when I text with my parents (and they come with the 5 additional characters that I need). All good. Texts with my parents, the keyboard knows to switch to romanian. With my wife, where we use 2 words in one language and 3 in others ... yeah, it's kinda confused about the suggestions, but I understand. However, until today, never saw this:

All of the text is in english, as it is set as the primary language on the phone. For the Wallet (bottom right), it translated it to romanian for some reason. I hope is not a thing where more and more user interface components get translated, 'cause I wouldn't know who is who. Even with that, I had to translate it back to english in my head to realize that ... oh, it's google wallet you're talking about here.

It's a pixel 9, latest and greatest android (as far as I can tell). Languages are hard.

I've got the (standard Google) Japanese keyboard installed, rarely type on it much but occasionally see Android UX text show up in Japanese for no apparent reason. Never persistent like that, it's usually like a transient message that pops up and goes away but yeah, it does just happen.

Similar situation, except that 1) I've had my notification shade remain in Japanese for weeks before automatically resolving 2) the bitwarden keyboard auto complete thing (just above keyboard when in password field) has remained in japanese 3) Google play store was off and on in japanese for a period of several weeks and 4)my calendar widget was showing dates and times in japanese.

Now, what is really crazy is that none of this was simultaneous - one thing would happen shortly after another resolved. I could never fix it, even if I switched entire phone to Japanese and back again.

Right now, it is only Bitwarden keyboard assist, but who knows what is next.

Oh that's exactly the one I was thinking of -- on reboots or whatever when all the elements of the home screen were repopulating the calendar widget would show something along the lines of "読み込む" instead of "Loading..."

I am NOT a red Bumblebee for god's sake!

I've had this happen on my Nothing 2a, it just decided that since I have three languages set up I must want the notification shade in a different language from the rest of the system. First it went Dutch, then Bulgarian. I don't even use Google keyboard as I've been using SwiftKey for many years now, might be an OS thing instead.

Just removing and readding the languages in question fixed it though.

Oh, so it's a known bug with android. I haven't noticed it until 2-3 weeks ago, even though I had 2 languages installed since forever.

Hopefully you're not getting A/B tested with Gemini trying to replace Google Assistant.

I'd suggest running any updates you might have waiting, both system and app, restart the phone, and see if the issue persists.

What version of Android Auto is it showing? Mine is still 14.0.651234, which is the version the Play Store gives me as current when I check for updates. Apparently 14.2 has begun rolling out today, but I have no idea if that might be the root of your issue.

The new, smaller, OnePlus 13(t?) looks like it could be a really nice phone for those that don't want an XL sized device. I could easily see it besting the small Galaxy S25 in a few ways. Rumor is they managed to fit an even larger 6200mah battery in it too.

I wonder if it'll see the light of day in the U.S. and if it does, will it be priced somewhat reasonably?

Not a helpful post but

As a certified gemini-replacing-assistant hater I swapped to gemini recently to see how it was doing since they're gonna be forcing it on everyone eventually and it's a lot better than it was when I last tried it on my phone (when it came out). It can control things in Home now without making me unlock my phone which was my biggest gripe. So far it hasn't been unable to do anything I asked it to.

In fact it's more useful than assistant because when I ask it for info on something it can actually respond with useful info (sure it's AI summarized info but that's exactly what a Google search would show me now) instead of just saying it doesn't know or can't help with that. Usually that's something I do when driving cause I get a thought and if I don't look it up right then I'll forget to look it up later and won't remember again until I'm driving. Repeat forever.
