This dongle will do everything you want if you have an amplifier already. Pairing this with a receiver should fit your needs. Sounds like you only need a stereo receiver. If you pick up a dongle like this, you might be able to pick up a receiver from a thrift store and be done with it.

If you already have a raspberry pi, you could use it with something like this:

Unless you like tinkering with electronics or want a mini project, I don't know if I could recommend this route. The cost is probably higher than the WiiM Mini now.

I see no car audio thread. I’ve recently bought a new vehicle and it’s got two of these things in it. They’re 10cm speakers, which is apparently 4”. I’m not expecting much out of tiny speakers, and there’s no way to fit anything larger, but I’d like something a little less tinny sounding if possible. Is that possible? I haven’t done any car audio poo poo in like 20 years so I have no idea what I’m doing.

reposting from Mac thread:

Here's some quick things to try:

- Make sure the receiver is set to auto change format on source. I have no idea what the Pioneer would call this setting.

- Have you tried using the cable between the receiver and the apple tv with the mac mini? If not, try that. This eliminates cable issues.

- Try using the hdmi port the apple tv is plugged into with the mac mini. This eliminates the possibility it's a port issue.

Looking to get an easy to use turntable that is cheap and doesn't gently caress up records. Built-in pre-amp would be great, too. It's not for me, thanks!

Also some decent active speakers would be nice to hear an opinion on, too. Max $150.

Vinyl thread can probably help you out better:

It's a little over your budget but parts-express has this powered speaker:

I have the passive version of these speakers and I like them a lot.

I can definitely second the Edifier recommendation. I have the non-powered version of these and they work great:

Slightly above your budget though.
