Overshadowed by their AL West rival and fellow Texas team, the Houston Astros, the Texas Rangers are often forgotten save for their stadium that looks like a grill and I think George Bush owned them at some point. This year they had a pretty comfortable summer but the September AL West chaos kicked in, and they got roped into a three way Wild Card showdown with the Astros claiming that divisional spot. The Rangers had the last laugh though. They gave the Astros the most definitive game 7 smack down in recent history. All while channeling and embracing the early 2000s buttrock that is Creed. With arms wide open indeed.

Arizona is the other forgotten Western Division team. I admit that the first things that come to mind when it comes to baseball in Arizona with spring training and the fall Cactus League. However, the Dbacks exploded in the end of the season with a vengeance. Destroy the Cubs and knock them down to elimination? Done. Sweep the wild card round and the NLDS to possibly end the careers of both Clayton Kershaw and Lance Lynn? Done. Completely silence the entire city of Philadelphia on their own turf? Done and done. The press has been calling them the �Answerbacks.� They may not draw first blood, but they�ll return the favor in spades.

I haven't decided who I'm rooting for, the rangers took out the Astros but also took out the Very Good Boys from Baltimore and have some vaguely chuddy energy, so it's a land of contrasts. The DBacks are kinda fun and chaotic but took out the Cubs (sorta) and the Phillies and crossed a hotel picket line and also have some vaguely chuddy energy
