Let's get to the questions: What's Tekken? Tekken is the world's biggest 3d fighter (rip doa/vf/sc/bloody roar) known for its rich movement, flashy combos and tactical gameplay. What's the difference between 7 and 8? Oh my god there's so much The big one is the new heat system where there's a small bar under your health bar that tracks a new resource called heat which lets you do new combos and moves. This is extremely reductionist, and we don't know the full extent of its powers yet. How's the netcode? Will I be getting ready for the next battle for a long time? 8's netcode is greatly improved over 7's 3 netcode. They fixed load times! Thank god Do I need a fancy controller to win? No, absolutely not. In fact, I find stick to be harder than hitbox or controller for tekken because of how movement works. Most of the top American players use standard Dualsenses for combat. When is the game coming out? Game's out on the 26th of January. Does this game have CROSSPLAY/integrated matchmaking servers? Yes, Harada in his Harada-y way announced crossplay by saying that we're all ingrates. Yippee. The game will be out on steam, ps5 and xbox series. What's the story on about? Beats me. Heihachi's dead (got thrown into a pit of lava rip) and now there's this new girl with Heihachi's moveset roaming around. And Jun's back???????????????? Things are getting CRAZY in my Tekken! Still keeping my fingers crossed for a collab with FF7R part 2 and we get Tifa in Tekken Azucena and Reina look great though, plus the bears seem pretty fun with their changes so I'm excited to mess around.

The only two fighting games I've played are MK and Tekken and that Shao Kahn arena has me hopeful for a surprise crossover. Come on Harada I know you're a secret fan! Well here's hoping the reviews saying that this is a less impenetrable Tekken are true and not just hype. I have a history with the series going all the way back to the second one, but I only within the last ten years or so actually started learning and getting better at fighting games more generally. I tried 7 and just couldn't get on with it. The movement felt awful and the billion edge case scenarios really drove me nuts. At this point I can't play a fighting game without trying to improve and be competitive. It is where I derive most of the fun from, personally. And I liked the demo. So I hope this one sticks because I really miss playing 3D fighters.

My hitbox gets here Friday. have some patience with your own mistakes, try to laugh it off when you get clowned on, practice blocking and defense and accept it'll take a while to get good at that. Congrats you're better at (insert name of fighting game) than half the people playing it, now.

Tekken 8 is not a drastic departure from previous tekken games so most of the beginner guides are still applicable. I haven't played the demo, do you still have to BDC/KBD in T7? I remember hearing someone mention that they'd changed the way it works so it wasn't as important anymore? I haven't played tekken in like 4 years at this point probably so I'm probably gonna have to relearn a lot of muscle memory either way

Spamming backdash (bb, bb, bb, bb) is better than it was previously and will cover more ground quicker than it did in 7, but kbding is still faster. So you can kick the can down the road a bit and get by with regular backdashing for longer than you could in previous games, but you should probably still eventually learn to kbd. A bigger thing is when you should kbd compared to regular backdashing, because even at high levels both have their uses.
