My opinion before the Cube flip was that there were probably scum in the middle there, but they were less likely to be at the beginning or the end. I also felt there would be scum in the faction holding back avoiding the turbo. They would know she's flip town, or at least not flip scum. No counting Plastic, who ended up hammering, there were three who were outspoken against the Toal Turbo. The Toalbo. SporkChan posted:While true, I have enjoyed Toal in recent games, so I don't wish to turbo. Even though turbo's are funny. Sandwolf posted:I’m not gonna vote Toal but always good to see a turbo in the wild CirclMastr posted:I'd like to see at least one Toal post before the turbo goes through. Is that still in reference to this:CapitalistPig posted:I got a night 0 cop and it says that sandwolf is scum. CapitalistPig posted:You have fallen into my clever and cunning trap. I am not a night 0 cop at all! If so, then most of our mafia games start with an extended 'joke phase' where most of what is said shouldn't be taken seriously. I, personally, didn't believe CPig's initial claim, nor the claim that it was a trap and you fell for it. I suspect most of the other players didn't think much of it either.

I'm still doing some research on all of this, but wanted to get some thoughts out because I welcome the help. Three books have been revealed as references for our characters so far: Frankenstein, by Mary Shelly [1818] The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, by Robert Louis Stevenson [1886] Gone with the Wind, by Margaret Mitchell [1936] My character is also from a book published during that time period. So we have a estimated time period from 1818 to 1936 for what the mods would consider 'classical' literature. Other literature from that time period which have notable villains: The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, by Victor Hugo (Archdeacon Frollo) [1831] The Three Musketeers, by Alexander Dumas (Richelieu, Rochefort, Milady) [1844] The Count of Monte Cristo, by Alexander Dumas (Mondego, Danglars, Villefort) [1846] Moby Dick, by Herman Melville (The whale, Captain Ahab) [1851] Les Miserables, by Victor Hugo (Javert, The Thenardiers) [1862] Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, by Jules Verne (Captain Nemo) [1870] -Other Jules Verne stories don't really have any villain, so this would be my most likely pick. Treasure Island, by Robert Louis Stevenson (Long John Silver) [1883] -Unlikely the mods would pick two books by the same author, but Silver/Mr. Hyde might have both inspired great ideas. Sherlock Holmes Novels, by Arthur Conan Doyle (Moriarty, Irene Adler) [1887 - 1927] Dracula, by Bram Stoker (Dracula, Renfield) [1897] ...and many more I haven't gotten around to including on my list. In addition I would personally consider Shakespeare and Dante Alighieri to be classical literature, despite not being in that time period. Which would give far too many villain options to list.

Rhymes With Clue posted:But in that vein: This makes me a little sus on Spork, who has provided a whole list. Why? I have to ask. Last night I was given an item. I also had an item stolen. And even though my action succeeded, I didn't get my results. So I dove down a wiki hole trying to figure out what literary villain could have done/would have done something like that. And I came up blank, but I wasn't going to leave that whole rear end list just in a notepad when I'd put the work in. Also Cube seems to be wary of BH's every game. I didn't read anything into it.

I mean, whoever stole my results hasn't claimed it and I believe most of the game has checked in at this point? So I'm operating under the assumption they are scum. If I can figure out which villain they likely are I can look to see if anyone dropped any hints or soft claims. Or a rolecop could use the info to call someone scum if they find someone who's villain is a thief.

It wasn't that odd though. Scum likely used their factional night kill ability to kill Iggy. Iggy likely used his odd nights killing ability on Cube, to kill Cube. And Iggy didn't show up as scum in any regard.

Wouldn't Scarlet O'Hara have counted then? She sucks, but I wouldn't have called her the villain in that book. (Other than racism and the Confederacy I'm not sure there is a villain in that book.) wologar posted:Space Opera Mafia had scum-scum bounty hunters, town-town bounty hunters and town-scum bounty hunters. That game was modded by HCT, who is one of the mods here, btw. So this made me think of something, since I'd forgotten about this game. In Space Opera the bounty hunter pairs each knew they were hunting someone, AND that someone was hunting them. So as I recall we were told something like, "You are hunting Joe the BrainSlug, but be warned! Joe is also seeking you out and will kill you first!" Rhymes With Clue posted:Cube mentioned bounty hunters, which seemed like an odd thing to mention as according to his flip he wasn't one. I am sensing the potential of a BH wincon and possibly among scum. In fact it's possible that Meen was chosen as NK for this reason. He was pretty transparently Jekyll/Hyde, I'm thinking if I could get there a BH could too. So anyone looking for possible roles is a little suspect to me right now and we should probably not even breadcrumb our flavor here. At the time I thought RWC was correct that Cube's comment about BH's meant that scum had a BH on their team. Maybe someone who powers up if they kill their book rival? Paired villains in a novel who are against the protagonist and each other? Two rival protagonists in a story who ruin everyone's lives around them and are basically villains in the story? But now that wolo reminded me of Space Opera, I'm wondering. What if the BH victim(s?) are scum? Maybe someone on the scum team knows that there is a 3P BH who is hunting them?

This is a role madness game and it was apparently light on the madness last night. Zoya was Redirected. Some loudified Zoya or Keats as well. (Possibly related to the redirect.) I was given an item/had that item stolen, and my results were stolen. D1 there was talk (From Cube, so suspect) or a messenger. No one else has claimed or hinted at anything else. And because there was a D1 turbo we've mostly been talking about our feelings on turbo's in general, not the votes as they occurred yesterday.

To that end. This is the first mention of Toal in the game:Rhymes With Clue posted:Okay, I'm gonna take a nap because it's Saturday and the current weather is favorable for mini hibernation. Before I go I will provide thoughts. Rhymes suggests that Toal is scum. Toal hadn't posted anything since signing up (and in the end wouldn't post while alive) so I kinda read this is jokephase stuff. And her later vote on Toal was claimed to be just because of the fun turbo, not because of any read. CubicalSucrose posted:Turbo Toal? A few hours later Cube votes for Toal explicitly calling for a turbo. This was after some discussion around Cube, specifically multiple people claiming to be the 'Cube whisperer', but Cube never accumulated many votes or felt in danger to me. (Side note: this is Cube's last post. Never came back to discuss the turbo he'd started.) We know this was scum starting a turbo. Did Cube pick Toal because she hadn't posted yet? Or was RWC seeding the idea of Toal earlier to make the Cube vote seem more palatable? I can't see any linking between Cube and Rhymes. Or between Cube and anyone really. Cube called Iggy town at one point, then said he'd kill Iggy. That's it though, feel like Cube was coasting a bit. Not surprising I feel like he's rolled scum a lot lately, and may be getting tired.

Also per my earlier thoughts about one or multiple scum being the targets of BH's, I'm side eyeing everyone who was so against flavor claims. To that end I will reveal myself. Tosses red velvet cape off in a dramatic fashion! It is I! Cardinal Richelieu! ![]() I have a targeted investigation action, but I'm not going to full claim just yet. Rogue AI Goddess posted:Same, especially since I'd have to get a visa to get there. Glad to know improvements can be made. And personally I think it's better for you to make the decision yourself about night actions. Publicly announcing what you are doing just lets scum work around that. For example: If Sandwolf is scum, he and his teammates now know that he shouldn't do the kill or take any negative action.

CirclMastr posted:True but I was nonplussed mostly because I didn't understand the purpose of the claim, I didn't necessarily believe it. I don't think that that pool MUST include scum. Sandwolf posted:Feels weird to have a real villain amongst fictional villains, I know it’s a flavor argument so I’m not pushing it, but that definitely feels weird I mean, I suspect more people hear of Richelieu thru the story rather than thru history studies. ##vote CirclMastr I agree with YPM that having a one-shot doublevote feels low powered. And I doubt you'd use it just to prove the existence of it. If it was a 1-shot you could claimed first. And the suspicion towards me for looking at the non-turbo players feels like caught scum to me.

PlasticAutomaton posted:The item poo poo? Have I been reading this wrong the entire time? I guess I can see how you'd call that my results if I squint. To my mind my 'results' were the thing that was stolen from me. And the item stuff is just what happened to me. Also since no one has claimed to have given me an item last night, I'm pretty sure the whole thing is just one action. Ie. Someone's action is to A.)Give target player an item. B.)Take the item back from target player. C.)Take anything else the target player has laying around as well, like action results.
