Oh God, when they finally loaded tattletale software onto the SIPR network on the boat we had like 3 people in a row almost go to NJP for trying to charge ipods off three computers.

Another good one was Nukes taking classified material home to study, or even better, hatching plans to sell classified* material to other countries.

The US even hosed around with that during the Cold War with Starfish Prime.

I think the concern might be that Russia is trampling on every nuclear arms limitation treaty in existence.

All of these people involved with Plastivan or the PragerU poo poo (lol) should be ashamed, were they capable of feeling it.

I'm real glad they're letting those PragerU motherfuckers in schools. Also nice to see the good old "left-wing ideology in culture, media, and education.” just being actual, unbiased facts again.

Yeah, all military action is incredibly wasteful and has an absolutely massive environmental impact. It's also bad for the economy generally. I don't understand where the myth of "good for the economy" came from. It's a hugely inefficient allocation of resources with no real hope of actual return.

We got escorted from Guam to Bremerton by a destroyer, so we got to see the fuel reqs over radio traffic, and holy gently caress do we burn insane amounts of fuel toodling around the ocean to go piss the Chinese off.

I want to know if it's a real UUV, or a kamikaze version of those drug running boats that are basically a speed boat with a bunch of ballast and a snorkel, and "underwater" means, like, waves lap over the top regularly in calm seas.

FTC Challenges Kroger’s Acquisition of Albertsons

Hopefully they do manage to block this, because these places are already soul-crushingly horrible.

I don't see how they could even physically pay their employees less, when I worked for Safeway I earned $0.11/hr over minimum wage, and paid dues to two unions. They had me work two 40+ hour weeks to cover multiple stores, then slashed my hours to a single shift so I'd fall under the legal cap for benefits. Bunch of scumbags. (This was like 15 years ago now).

Mustang posted:

I really liked Safeway (Albertson's owns them) when I first moved to WA, but somehow it seems to be getting worse each year. They're removing baskets from stores, putting certain items in a walled off "store inside a store", and other things that make being their customer a pain in the rear end.

There's not really any grocery store I like here that much, though I'd say it's probably Town & Country because they have the best produce.

What the gently caress is up with the basket thing? They started disappearing right at the start of the pandemic, are shopping baskets expensive or something? I don't want to push around a cart to grab some produce eggs and milk, and putting the stuff in a reusable shopping bag feels like shoplifting.

So Donnie was pretty poised to make like $3B on the weird Truth Social SPAC deal. Basically, some wall street goobers built up a shell corp to subsume truth social / trump media group. They gave him 90% ownership in the resulting company, with like 8% going to themselves. Everyone involved could cash out in six months.

Then the merger notice was accepted and the company was to go public, but the goobers noticed some fuckery. Donnie kept their share quantities, but drastically increased the amount of company shares available when it goes public, knocking down the goobers' share to 1%. Donnie intended to then siphon off the rest of that percentage and send it to his kids.

So now, the goobers have filed three lawsuits, likely leading to a huge delay of the company going public, all because Donnie was a cheap gently caress.
