Are you going to be showing off what you can get up to with the emblems?

Seth and Titania, and fe7 Marcus, also have way better stats than Vander.

Imo the second batch of units are project units as well, it takes till half way through the game for the actually good units to show up.

Technically yes but in practice no, I'm not sure if it's cool to be talking about mechanics the lp hasn't talked about, though. Also, basically every unit in the game needs at least some help/investment, even the good ones, so in practice you do end up having to focus on a core set of units.

Artix posted:My first Chloe was very good, my second one spent almost the entire game as a staffbot until I finally got her a Flame Lance and she was...okay after that, but by that point killing things wasn't her job, it was just a nice bonus when she could snipe something. That's because the flame lance sucks. Chloé is excellent if she's the first unit to promote and handed the early Levin sword.

As for Marth emblem, easily the most important thing he brings to the table is Mercurius. It's a strong weapon and double exp (and SP gain) is really really powerful if you know what you're doing. Due to the way exp works in this game it's not worth it to keep Marth on one juggernaut unit for half the game, exp gain falls off too hard if you're ahead of the level curve. But it really helps to make certain units shoot ahead. Or it gives characters who are behind catch up really fast. Or it helps characters hit SP targets for really valuable skills. The obvious best recipient of Mercurius right now is Chloé. She can be one of the best units in the game if she receives an early promotion and giving her access to Mercurius is a big part of her getting there. But basically anyone in the party can get a big boost from having double exp for a while.

Things in the Somniel are all predetermined, who you fight in the arena, which bond rings you pull, the results of cooking something. The only way to get different results is to advance the RNG in some way.

Jean is another candidate for the first second seal. Martial monk's combat leaves a lot to be desired and staff exp is slow. It's better to get him into something like axe fighter and feed him some levels with Mercurius.
