Just casually riding in my Mazda 3 dropping off $120k in unmarked bills in a trashy gift bag on the front porch of a juror's father-in-law with a note that there will be another bag tomorrow if the jury acquits on the corruption and fraud case.

Hm, but would this fit the Supreme Court's definition of bribery?

quote:

The defendants — Mukhtar Mohamed Shariff, Abdiaziz Shafii Farah, Mohamed Jama Ismail, Abdimajid Mohamed Nur, Said Shafii Farah, Abdiwahab Maalim Aftin and Hayat Mohmed Nur — are the first to go on trial out of 70 people charged in the massive federal case so far.

Oh yeah, they're hosed.

So that leaves J6 and the documents. J6 is paused pending the supreme court loving with that schedule. Documents is basically paused indefinitely, as Chudge Cannon is doing goofy poo poo like scheduling and listening to amicus briefings from Federalist Society bozos on the legality of the special counsel statutes.

I hope Willis feels at least somewhat bad that she came at the king but stopped along the way to get her rocks off.

Not to minimize this but that comes to 6 per 100,000 crossings for the US border and 150 per 100,000 for the Berlin Wall.

If anyone wants to read more details about how horrible Stockton Rush was (it's even worse than originally thought) and what a boon and grace it is that he's been disintegrated and can do no more harm: https://www.wired.com/story/titan-submersible-disaster-inside-story-oceangate-files/

I hate the Wire website so I think I'm reading the same thing at https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2024/06/inside-the-titan-submersible-disaster/

And WTF

quote:

As I began to feel the chill seeping through the sub’s steel hull, Rush asked me to open my iPhone’s compass app. He wanted to compare it to the one on his phone. The headings did not match, but he rebooted the thrusters and we set off in what he was pretty sure was the right direction.

Back at the dock, Rush brushed off the problems we had encountered. This is exactly why OceanGate started with the Cyclops 1, he said, rather than anything capable of diving deeper. “I could have built a multimillion-dollar version and all of a sudden I’ve got to figure out really stupid stuff like the magnetic compass,” he told me

quote:

David Lochridge, who oversaw marine operations at the company and who needed to sign off on the transfer, became convinced that Titan was unsafe. In January 2018, Lochridge sent Rush a quality-control inspection report detailing 27 issues with the vehicle, from questionable O-ring seals on the domes and missing bolts to flammable materials and more concerns about its carbon-fiber hull. Rush fired him the next day.

:allbuttons:

quote:

I have grown tired of industry players who try to use a safety argument to stop innovation and new entrants from entering their small existing market,” Rush wrote to McCallum. “Since [starting] OceanGate we have heard the baseless cries of ‘you are going to kill someone’ way too often.”

Why is it called a "coning tower?"

Look into Dwarf Tomato Project varieties. They will happily grow in 5-10 gallon containers. I am growing Fred's Tie Dye, Dwarf Eagle Smiley, and Dwarf Mint Streak in 5 gallon containers and can strongly recommend the first two (DMS is productice but has kinda boring flavor and splits badly)

How much do they produce? I enjoy BLTs and other summer fresh tomato foods, but the primary reason I want a significant tomato garden is to can tomatoes for use throughout the rest of the year.

Another reminder that the "culture war" is one-sided. Our side wants everyone to be included. Theirs wants specific groups excluded. Our side is fine with supporting 4H, FFA, veterans' groups, etc. Theirs wants only their group to have benefits.

And this is why they love Trump.
