Same here. I've never even seen the movie but I will never forget that cover art. I couldn't even guess how many times I walked by it. Stuff like this is why it's such a shame how lovely most video covers are now. There was practically an industry around eye popping video covers. Then they devolved into the floating heads of the DVD era. And we eventually ended up with the low effort ugly slop we have now.

floating 26" off da ground. BURR!
Seinfeld 4K down to $200 on Amazon which was my threshold.

Also looks like the 4K for Halloween 3 is $14.50 or so. I loooooove Halloween 3 so consider picking it up at such a reasonable price!

Edit: The Seinfeld set is TINY. So smol. A inch or so thinner than my Sopranos, slightly wider than my The Shield set.

The Jason X UHD is down to the more normal preorder price, which I was expecting. Not that $30 is cheap it's a lot easier to justify than $50.

The next Friday the 13th is coming up in June so I'm gonna make the new Jason X release the main event of my night.

FYI, before anyone gets excited about Imprint having a Warner license, both The Wind and the Lion, as well as The Man Who Would be King are Sony titles outside North America. The Wind and the Lion was a co-production between Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (North America) and Columbia Pictures (international); The Man Who Would be King was Allied Artists and Columbia.

I put Dark City in my order and that one has a 6/24 release date so I guess I'm not going to main event Jason X or Jason Goes to Hell for 6/13

Well even just with my individual Jason X order there's always a decent chance it gets delayed a month or whatever. Crossing my fingers!

It has really complex character observations that seem to invert on a whim and play with viewer expectation without committing to cliche, and the editing and photography really are so closely observed as to feel like the film is playing in a much bigger pond than it apparently was. I guess it made like 20k and was promptly forgotten about.

In the case of both characters I kinda felt like 'yeah, i've been there' wrt their life circumstances

I am a big Charlie Kaufman fan but it’s so funny to watch that movie and realise that Kaufman got a significant amount of his shtick from it lmao

It really is shockingly complex, I still can’t believe how many emotional states I went through during the scene where Sillas’ character reads out her children’s story. What would usually be a joke scene ends up having so many layers

shoutout Radiance for the release

A little disrespect and rudeness can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day
I finally watched The Keep last night and I demand the Mann cut. There’s a good movie in there but it’s not what we got, you can really feel the studios cuts throughout. At least the score was killer.

VinSyn did a great job with the restoration, I’d previously only seen a few minutes of it from a lovely VHS rip on YouTube so I was really happy to see it not look like total poo poo.

We’re probably never seeing the additional material. But you can always go read the book, which is pretty good. It’s full of a ha moments if you’ve seen the movie first.

We’re never going to see it because Mann has too many bad memories about it to ever go back, and no one knows how to put any of the visual effects elements together because Wally Veevers died during post production and he was the only one who knew how everything was supposed to go together.

I don’t know if all the footage was destroyed but VS found the footage that made up the extended cut but they were barred from using it on their release of The Keep.

Imprint is working on their own 4K UHD of The Keep, so it's possible they're able to do an alternate cut or include deleted material unlike Vinegar Syndrome.

I saw all kinds of people complaining about thr Timecrimes blu-ray having audio descriptions you can't turn off. I contacted Umbrella, who put out the disc, to see if that was true. They claimed it wasn't. Turns out that they disc does in fact have audio descriptions you can't turn off. So they straight up lied to me. Cool! I was actually motivated to buy this disc to show the movie publicly so now I'm just not going to be doing that.

The thing I tell myself is “I am not a museum”. Then I can chuck cases, those Movie Anywhere papers, etc. Slipcovers, if they are identical to the inside. Otherwise I cut the slipcovers so they can be flat.

When two cases that don't have slip covers are pressed together on the shelf, the plastic can start to bubble and get warped. The slip cover prevents that, at least to an extent.

Back in the day, I always just wanted the full item, slip, inserts, whatever. Slipcovers specifically felt like a cool bonus and you could typically hunt down a copy with a slip on eBay for the same price.

In the late 2010s both the industry and the aftermarket caught wind of slip collectibility and now, like records and physical media in general, it has become a price gouging affair. Now it's like baseball cards, and there are people who buy this crap to collect the packaging, rather than it being a little extra nice thing with your movie. To each their own.

I've accepted this fact, and won't pay stupid eBay prices for slips. If someone here is clearing out their stuff anyway, keep weirdos like me and dorium in mind.
