Back in the day, I always just wanted the full item, slip, inserts, whatever. Slipcovers specifically felt like a cool bonus and you could typically hunt down a copy with a slip on eBay for the same price.

In the late 2010s both the industry and the aftermarket caught wind of slip collectibility and now, like records and physical media in general, it has become a price gouging affair. Now it's like baseball cards, and there are people who buy this crap to collect the packaging, rather than it being a little extra nice thing with your movie. To each their own.

I've accepted this fact, and won't pay stupid eBay prices for slips. If someone here is clearing out their stuff anyway, keep weirdos like me and dorium in mind.

Everything that's just supposed to be a bit of fun is ruined the second some jerkoff gets too much money for it off of someone dumb.

Yeah I heard it was real bad so I ordered a medium size Case Logic binder for it and any other poorly packaged discs. The very backordered Z-A set finally arrived and getting the discs out of the goddamn case without loving them up was a huge pain in the rear end.

Glad I got the binder well in advance, stored the Se7en UHD in it as well as everything else that was imprisoned in cardboard crap

It's somehow never gotten a US Blu-Ray release before, which explains why I could never find it when I looked for it in the secondhand shops. I always assumed it must have left DVD at some point. One of the best movies I watched during the 2023 October Challenge. So stoked. Good features, too.

I saw the 4K announcement and for a very brief moment my "I saw this during the theatrical release and fondly remember the hype behind it" nostalgia threatened to take hold but then I remembered that it's not really a very good movie. Enjoyable at the time, and one I'll pleasantly remember, but not one I need to revisit let alone own. It's a great-looking release, though.

The first one isn’t that bad for badly aged humor, at least compared to what I’ve read about the source material. The second one has some more questionable choices. From what I’ve read Mark Millar is a big fan of using “and then they had sex with a black guy” as a punchline. Like a lot. It was the first thing I saw Chloë Grace Moretz in and now she’s 28. Time flies.

I remember enjoying The Crazies back in the day. I remember thinking "again?" when I saw the trailer, during this epidemic of remaking horror movies from the 70s and 80s, and much like the Dawn of the Dead remake, turning out to be much better than it had any right to be.

I feel Kick-rear end also loses sight of what it was satirising around halfway through, and ends up becoming a fairly generic example of cape poo poo.

The sequel is an irredeemable piece of poo poo.

Mark Millar is a dipshit edgelord. The movie is actually better than the comic book and I don't say that as a compliment to the film. I read the first issue of Kick rear end 2 and it has the bad guy getting is revenge on Kick rear end by gang racing his girlfriend. That was the last Mark Millar project I ever wasted my time on. Just a lovely writer all around who thinks he's Garth Ennis but without anything that redeems Ennis' frequently terrible impulses.

Been ages since I've even thought about Kick rear end, but from what I remember the source material was so mean spirited and such a big downer that most everyone was fine with the movie adding some traditional superhero elements to balance it out.

Anecdotally Kick rear end 2 was one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my life, and iirc it sticks closer in tone to the comics, so take that for what it's worth

Recently I regretted blind buying Furiosa. The movie really just does nothing for me and it's so flat looking compared to Fury Road. I rewatched it a second time(didn't change my opinion) and will probably even give it a third chance at some point down the line because I'm stubborn about getting my money's worth out of my movies.
