Specifically, you want a pure white goose down (preferably from Europe, specifically Poland, or Canada) with a very high Fill power. The higher the fill, the higher the quality. The best Fill power for Down tops at 1000 but anything above 800 is very premium. Goose down is better than duck Down 99% of the time. The only exception is Eiderdown, which comes from a duck and is extraordinarily expensive. You do not want any feather blends at all, which have sharp quills and don’t last as long. A true, high quality down will not sink to a pancake or require crazy amounts of fluffing, and Down typically won’t make you sweat since it’s a natural fiber with breathability. The best size and firmness for a pillow depends on your size and sleeping position. Plenty of easy to understand guides exist online. I’ve just ordered the St. Genève Eider Luxe chamber pillow. It has an inner chamber of 1000 Fill Pure white Polish goose down and an outer chamber of pure Eiderdown. It’s $2500. Without the Eiderdown the pillow is around $1200. There’s even a pure Eiderdown pillow for over $4000 but you wouldn’t want that because it has no support and brands who sell it will admit it’s not an ideal solution for a pillow, it’s just very expensive. Obviously this type of quality can be extremely expensive and most people on this planet can’t afford it. The most reasonable very high quality down for a good RELATIVE value would be the Duxiana Oslo pillow. Depending on size it’s $350-450 but you won’t be disappointed and it’ll outlast any synthetic pillow you may be looking at. The support is there and it comes in varying firmness and size to match any sleeper.

I have filled my pillow with sand. It is much more comfortable than the bag of pointy lego that I used to sleep on.

i won't tell you how to live your life, but i will issue this warning op. a bed that's too comfortable will be a headwind in life. it will seriously threaten your grindset, the temptation to stay in bed each morning is strong. the more hostile you make it, the more you will accomplish.

Disagree on all points, OP My down pillow was flat, impossible to fluff, was too warm, and constantly poked out quills to stab my face/find in my hair in the morning ...but I also didn't pay $300-2500 for a pillow, to wtf does my pleb rear end know :V

Yeah, 20 some years ago I moved in with my husband, and he only had a twin bed. We had a good amount of disposable income at the time and plunked down like $4000 for a queen tempur pedic. 20 years later it’s still my “nest” at home when I wanna feel comfortable, and dang it can be hard to leave in the morning. Now if only I could get my husband to change the sheets for once…

I bought pillows from mattress firm when I got my mattress and they rule. They stay cool and they're heavy so it's super easy to put them in the case. They have a bumpy side and a smooth side. I don't know the name of the type of pillow or anything but I like them. I don't think I will be buying a down pillow but thanks for the recommendation op.

the actual best pillow doesn't really cost money and is summoned by enduring the suffering of having a really bad pillow or no pillow for some time. When you have prepared your future pillow this way, it is supremely pleasurable once attained.
