Look, I have an irregular sleep schedule and sometimes need groceries at 3AM. After COVID, nothing is open 24 hours near me and I can't buy a snack at 3AM and before you say "Just buy it before the store closes," I can't because I will immediately eat it, as I am very fat.

Honestly, if you lack the impulse control to not immedietly chow don't whatever your buying, it's probably best for you to life in a place where you can't get fresh 3 am snacks. Alternatively, just go shopping at 8 pm or whenever. And buy so many pounds of snacks that it's impossible to eat all of them within the next few hours. Then you will have some left for 3 am. You must fight your impulse control by oversaturing it. Back in the '90s the local duolopy supermarkets started doing open 24 hours. Night fillers would hop in to man the register when needed. Now it's the 2020's nightfill is gone because paying people is gone. So now all stacking gets done during the day so they close at 9pm like it's 1992. Also there's no deli, no fresh bread (it's packed on the other side of the planet and frozen 6 months ago) and all the biscuits I liked are gone.

Can’t get those cream wafers any more. I hadn’t looked for them in years, but I had a sudden nostalgic urge and the local supermarket didn’t have them. If only I’d bought more when I could. This is all my fault for not constantly munching on those cream wafers.

No and now they decided they dont have to pay overnight shelf stockers anymore either, they can just have regular day shift workers at 10am on a Saturday stock shelves and block all the aisles

My crap job is still 24/7 and I work the nights. But we're like one of the only places. There was a diner back in my home town that still managed to be 24/7, even during the pandemic, but it's been 2 years since then. Hopefully they managed the keep it going.

After years of living in Germany where nothing is open past 16:00 or on the entire day of Sunday, I am so excited to move back to the US so I can go back to eating 3AM tacos, and now you're hitting me with this news? I'm giving up my free healthcare for being able to shop at any hour on any day, but now you're telling me I can't do that anymore? Well, at least I can still get free water and free bathrooms.
