It worked. I'm a Showa Era nerd cause the model work was so lit. Heisei Godzilla movies are also lit, but kiss you. Showa was better as a whole. Just got my overpriced Criterion art pieces which is also lit. Really though I did love the Showa era films, despite their reused footage nonsense. Invasion of Planet X was my favorite even with the dub. Thanks MF DOOM/King Gheedorah for helping me appreciate it more.

As a buffer, like I said the only dubbed Showa era film is my favorite being Invasion From Planet X. But while I found the dubs for Heisei era films charming, they really didn't hit the notes, and as is discussed, often felt limp and lacking. GODDAMN, poo poo, We ARE Lethal Weapon, is probably one of my all time film moments tho. That's the weird thing, Showa era Godzilla definitely was great and degraded. Heisei was the opposite and got better/but worse over time. But imo never captured the feeling overall.

I liked Godzilla vs. Monster Zero aka Invasion of the Astro Monster, that was probably the best English dub. Although that might have been because one of the main characters was actually American. They had one of the best UFOs on screen of the era, though. Great special effects. And everyone loves Ghidrahdora

Pacific Rim sucked. That one Godzilla where they defeated the him using the Tokyo train system and a bunch of electrical engineers or whatever was way better of a monster movie.
