We had an escaped murderer apprehended outside our apartment my second year in college. He had killed his girlfriend and the guy she was cheating on him with. He had escaped from a prison place about 50 miles away late at night. Somehow he traveled about 50 miles in 5 hours or so. I was up early on Saturday morning, making coffee and such, when I hear a ruckus outside; running, yelling, and then sirens. Looking out the kitchen window into the alley between the buildings I see a dude running past being chased by two cops, and then another cop comes from the opposite direction and all three of them just absolutely tackle this dude and take him down, put him in cuffs. They were not gentle about it. The funny part was that as I'm watching all this, the cops are are starting to do door to door visits. And there at least 8 cop cars there(pretty much the whole town's police force plus the campus police). They suspected he had friends there that he was trying to hide out with them. I look around our apartment and realize this is not good. We'd had a dozen people over the night before and there were beer cans (none of us were 21) and a couple of bongs (weed was illegal back then) and a freaking sack of weed right on the living room table (who leaves weed out overnight?). I roust my roommates and we immediately go into panic clean-up mode. Sure enough, 15 minutes later we get a knock on the door. Cop just had a couple basic questions and then moved on. loving murderer guy almost brought the heat down on us. Jail for you, just for that.
