Is it just me or is this the dumbest supposedly “profound” question ever? Like, yes, a sound wave is produced. That’s literally how physics loving works, it doesn’t matter if anyone heard it. Imagine someone being like “I turned the light in the bathroom on but the switch is in the hallway and no one is in there, so who can say if the light is really on or not?” You would rightfully think they were a moron. What the hell?

if you want to be really technical about it, the premise is impossible. any tree that falls in a forest will, be definition, be heard by the forest inhabitants. woodland creatures, insects, birds, trout, all essential parts of what makes a forest a forest.
