Megabound posted:
lol cool so you're creating a heatsink around the thermocouple(s) that govern(s) charge rate The thermocouple that ostensibly protects the conductor and terminals of the charge lead from heat cycling out of spec Sudden failure not likely, but this has a good chance of inducing rapid deterioration in the charging cable and connected parts. Heat, and particularly heat cycling, kills cable insulation and the integrity of conductor contacts. Inevitable in the long run but as long as you stay within the cable's spec this failure should be predictable and take several years if not decades. They're doing their best to slide along the damage curve in ways that don't trip the breaker but DO run the cable and connectors hot in a way that the designers did not intend. Best case, the contacts wear out prematurely and the connector makes poor contact and needs replacement after enough people complain. Fine, stock part, you replace that with one with less manipulatable thermocouples, whatever. Worse and most likely case, the cable insulation deteriorates far ahead of the expected lifespan. This can manifest as damage in a number of different ways, the most likely being a line-to-line or line-to-ground fault as the insulation between conductors breaks down. In this case, the charge controller should detect a fault and shut down the breaker until the cable is repaired. In the worst case, it becomes the kind of thing where "hey if you hold the cable just right it still works" right up until the plastic housing of the grip melts due to the heat and one of those conductors grounds to a surface a person can touch Anyway it ain't good!!!

besides the technological and regulatory challenges just imagine how loving stressful that’d be as a worker constantly being thrown into new driving scenarios. sometimes when an accident already occurred. if you make a mistake the company probably pays out huge and you get immediately fired. hypervigilence through a whole shift. hopefully they don’t make you interact with the customer or there’s a whole nother layer of BS (probs not though since that’d destroy the illusion

some dip in the comments was claiming the tunnels would scale to 50k people/hr by 2029 even if you’re assuming those stupid pods, where in the blue gently caress are 50k peoples worth of vehicles going to dwell? you’d have to build an insane sized platform

I sure hope this is all real actioned hatred and he's actually been ousted. Maybe it's just my broke brain at hand but there's at least a couple people in Musk's orbit smart enough to suggest a PR maneuver to let him continue to operate quietly after people realized nobody fuckin' likes the guy Like he was in the room when they had the South African President in for their propaganda push

They're eugenicist fascists so I wouldn't be surprised if they're leaning whole hog into that, while giving musk a backdoor into the white house, with the bonus on the millers' side of living on an unfathomable tier of luxury as long as they stay on the boer's good side
