We told ourselves it was a pattern of persistent bad luck. It wasn't. Dave had been a predator for a long, long time in hindsight, moving from community to community to continue his crimes. We were just fools who enabled him.

I still lol at some plague rats and boba pearl being permad within, what, a month? For buying themselves transphobic avs and blaming it on their posting enemies, only to be undone by the av change cost being the one for doing it yourself. I miss plague rats, when they were right they were right. I definitely don't miss boba making GBS threads up comics threads with her ugly rear end comics though. Also the revelation that boba was a permabanned user who tried to do a terrorism over some farm cows or some poo poo.

Thorsby I can almost understand. Putting aside his eye-searing artwork, the guy is quite clever and imaginative. But yes, there were far too many people posting multiple pages of a mediocre comic everyday, while saying "I know it's bad but it picks up after 300 pages" or "only 17 volumes to go!" or "haha, it's so bad, that's what's so funny"

Someone else recommended the Phenazepam thread. One thing I love about it is that on the very first page OP gives detailed instructions on how not to gently caress up taking it and goons still hosed up taking it.

There was this long mock thread called "The newest evolution of the furry: the mechie." It was about a girl named June who drew this terrible Deviantart style porn about planes, trains, and automobiles doing the dirty. Then goons dug deeper and found online diaries of hers. Among other typical nerdy things, she was super into samurai sword play, and would practice her skills during her lunch break at work. Sadly, goons being goons, the stalking went too far and the thread had to be gassed. I still think about her every now and then, swinging a wooden sword around the break room while other people are trying to eat in peace.

I ran a goon guild in some long forgotten failed MMO, Aion maybe? We started an off-forums site for the goon guild, and we stole a rival guilds name in the game. The guild leader of said guild found my personal cell phone number and called me and yelled at me to give them their name back. I have lots of fond memories of all the Call of Duty threads every year and the goons that played together (shout to Mister Macys for always building a murder fort). Hakan threads were always fun. GBS back in the day was always a toss-up of "what kind of weird poo poo am I going to see today?"
