How far away does a place have to be before you’ll fly instead of drive? I’d say an 8 hour drive is my cutoff Who’s skipping out on family this year and just going to Cuba or wherever?

I've never traveled for a holiday in my life, that's just a whole other lifestyle you see on tv or whatever.

I’m doing a big week long road trip this year to see a lot of people. I planned all my stops out so I don’t have to drive more than about 8 hours on any given day. Used to do the long haul drives where I was super focused on making good time and all that and I’m sick of it. I wanna stop and look at cool things and actually enjoy the trip.

I dunno op, driving or flying or traveling or celebrating holidays all sound a bit too expensive to me.

This can also be the “staying home and day drinking during December” megathread too

I usually flee the country to avoid holidays / family entanglement, but this year I may simplify it and just go camping for a few days

Drove Missouri to Maryland for Thanksgiving. Honestly not that bad with two people to share the driving and we split it into two days on the way back. Got through about half a Conan audiobook and a shitload of podcasts. For me I think it's more about how long am I gonna be staying at the destination. We stayed for a week, wouldn't have been worth it for only a few days.
