Having Dess lose a bunch of her Majiks but not remembering which ones, setting up a recurring gag of her pulling a badass move only for nothing to happen (and a quest to recover them, either for her or for Ichi), could be a fun time. Also gives her room to mentor Ichi on how she caught them the first time around. But that's fanfiction territory, I have no idea what direction this will actually go.

From the previous Majicks, their capture requirement and their abilities don't really have much to do with each other so it can really be anything and more based on their personalities if anything. Desscaras losing a bunch of her majiks would put her on the same foot as Ichi, ie, having a bunch of overpowered abilities that are hard to use while slowly working to build up her bread-and-butter abilities, which might be fun.

If Desscaras was more willing to be hands on I could see the need to tune her down but from everything we have seen she is quite willing to let Ichi run wild with her being there to make sure nothing goes wrong. Long term yes there would be a reason to shake things up but at the start of the manga not so much.

Desscaras being depowered would not be fun IMO. Her power is the key to her being everyone's favorite uber-talented badass. Having Kumugi being the weaker but knowledgeable witch learning along with Ichi is enough.

Alternatively, have her depowered, but have it not faze her cause she's really good at catching Magiks in her own unique way, (I mean, she managed to catch a fuckton so I assume she can do it again) so she and Ichi have to compete now and we can see how Ichi's hunting compares to Descarres's style of catching.

She's really powerful in that "when all you have is a hammer" way. Her magical combat is great but more narrowly refined than Ichi's way of adapting to what he's hunting. Rather than depower her, she'll probably have to learn to cooperate with him and not just treat him as a subordinate and if this majik isn't an end boss type, that might tie into its trial.

I mean, she presumably had to have been skilled in a way beyond that to acquire so many magiks in the first place. It's not like she started out with all these powerful magiks (and most presumably can't be captured with direct combat). There might be limitations to it, though. Like, it can tell you the exact terms of the trial, but maybe not subjective truth about non-physical trials. So since Hisame was so straightforward as to say "make me beautiful", it might not've gotten anything more than that. Otherwise, you're right and might be too powerful of a thing to introduce this early.
