Yes, we have an abusive culture, but if you go to public schools you get abused into society. Look at what happened after I hate-clicked on one "you might be interested in" r/homeschooling link? Flood of poo poo. Related poo poo that you might be interested in if you're interested in homeschooling. Do your part. If you visit a home, and someone is schooling, tell the children: run!

I knew a kid in middle school who was homeschooled all through elementary school, and all he ever talked about was perv poo poo He got expelled in 8th grade after one of his teachers was bending over to pick something up and he was walking by her and he did some sexual hip thrust move into her butt We never heard from him again after that

americans will be like parents have the absolute right to raise their kids in a cult compound or church community or homeschool them with radical unlearning or deny them vaccines / medical needs on religious grounds or feed them insanely unhealthy diets, but it's very important that they not be able to give their kids puberty blockers

I've seen it go both ways. Remote living and an hour and a half drive to drop off three kids for school each day, and pick them up in the afternoon. Both parents were well educated, they decided to try home-schooling and mom took on the teacher role. They followed a published home-schooling curriculum and they all excelled, doing course work 2 grades above where they would have been in public schools. They'd stop by work, dad was my co-worker, and I'd throw them random questions from math, biology, spelling, etc. and all three kids could nail age appropriate questions. Besides text books they were all required to read one book each month; whatever they wanted. It was actually very cool. Parents eventually moved the kids into public school at high school ages because homeschooling three kids sounds like more work than any full-time job I've ever had. They're all in college these days. I've seen the other side of that coin too where moronic hillbilly parents would pretend they were educating their kids and completely fail at it. There was a twelve year old girl that could hardly read a Jack & Jill book, and wasn't even sure when her birthday was or how old she was. But hoo boy it was the parent's right to educate their daughter as they saw fit. It was horrible and tragic. So yeah, in that case I'd consider it child abuse.

A lot of homeschooling is extremely corporatized Christian nationalist propaganda It's big business, not artisanal

I met this lady that was raised in a religious cult and was homeschooled until her her mom decided she should attend public high school. I think it worked out for her pretty well as she rejected all of that bullshit and was doing well in life a couple decades later.

It has been running since the 1950s. https://australian-children.com/school-of-the-air/ There have been some issues detected with traditional home schooling. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2024-12-10/queensland-homeschooling-review-prompts-calls-for-oversight/104703416

I want to laugh at homeschooling but when I was in highschool the ceiling fell down when it rained and our geography books, shared 1 between 3 students, still called it the USSR. In 1999. It's been 25 years now and our local school system has still not seen any major investment in that time. Now the school bullies also exist on a rectangle in your pocket. The rectangle is mandatory for living in our society now and you are required to take it everywhere. Andrew Tate is also on the rectangle and you can't stop him. Like, I get it.

I was up in bumfuck nowhere Mato Grosso last year and the prefecture had just decided to go full military style instruction complete with uniforms for the municipality. Like literally campaign signs were out and apparently it passed. In that environment I kinda think home school might be a more viable option for some. Land of contrasts/ shades of grey etc.

I was homeschooled 7th and 8th grade but Iostly stayed up all night playing MUDs. I had to go to some income daycare to do Christian workbooks so I could legally enter high school. Did you know Jesus hung out with dinosaurs

Though the best option is not to have children, unless you have a good excuse ready when they ask why the sea is dead and why they have to hide asap if they ever hear police sirens
