For me, it has to be the flat head screwdriver. Ironically i almost never use one for screwing or unscrewing a flathead screw.

For anyone who is moving away on their own for the first time, I recommend getting them a drill plus a bunch of bits. It functions as an electric screwdriver, it’ll flush out holes for hanging pictures, you can build ikea furniture, pretty much everything. Next is the socket wrench set. That and honestly just a pack of cheap metric and imperial wrenches. Then a screwdriver set, making sure to get bunch of tiny screwdrivers in there too. With that, you’ve got everything you’ll need for your car, electronics, house, etc. If you want to move into actually fixing stuff around the house or improving things, you can get a Skilsaw, which is the MVP for home improvement. Just useful for cutting basically any wood you want to easily and quickly, you could probably build a whole house with a skilsaw, drill, and a hammer.

As someone who does a lot of work on bicycles, a 15mm combination spanner and 5mm hex key will get me through most of the day. They're the first thing I reach for and the last thing I put down.
