But well, there's gonna be a season 3. To be arty farty about it, I think you could say that version 1 of Mujica, that we see at the start, is about the past and running away from it. Version 2 of Mujica is about indulging in the precarious present. So it feels like with season 3 we'll probably see version 3 of Mujica be about the future probably.

Please give Umiri more to do in S3.

Umiri had a more satisfying character conclusion in this one season than Taki got across two tbqh

Just start watching this show after finishing MyGO and lol at the mask gimmick falling apart immediately, Nyamu truly is a force of chaos.

Nah, the start of the show is not thematically consistent with the events of the real life concerts. The start of the show is more like an extrapolation of the stuff you see at the end of MyGO, whereas in the concert version literally the first thing that happens is that the dolls rebel and the world of ave mujica is destroyed

Hah, I'm guessing the singers/VA's are still the same though right? So wait, does that mean people IRL had to guess each masked singer's identity too? That's actually a really cool concept. But it does make sense that some time has passed considering they're filling out entire concert halls and they're already talking about the Budokan and stuff. edit: ep3 okay well, this is quite hosed up already, Saki really isn't a people person huh as a sidenote I appreciate the continued use of Chopin's Raindrop for background music Exodee fucked around with this message at 21:59 on Sep 10, 2025 |

That's actually a really cool concept. They were masked and anonymous during their first Live show, I believe. They were announced at MyGo!!!!!’s 4th Live and there was apparently an AR game to identify them before they unmasked during their Second Live? Nyamu’s seiyuu has become quite a Xitter lesbian icon in the interim lmao. GhostStalker fucked around with this message at 00:36 on Sep 11, 2025 |

Exodee posted:Hah that's pretty awesome. Good for Nyamu too! Takao Kanon is actually a child prodigy in the piano and has won international competitions in Vienna decades ago prior to becoming a seiyuu. The videos of her competitions should be on YouTube somewhere. She posts piano covers of songs constantly on Xitter and also just graduated from Aoyama Gakuin University back in March. She hangs out with Sasaki Riko (the seiyuu for Uika) quite a lot too

Ep4-6: I can't believe Ave Mujica is done already, the band only lasted four episodes what the hell So the masks and dolls really were a meta concept for the show as a whole, although Matsumi is taking it to the next level goddamn. Then again Saki herself might be the most walled up of them all. On a lighter note, Nyamu's cat puns made me spit out my drink lmao. I'm never prepared for them

Finished the show and I enjoyed my time with it. Probably not unexpected to say that I didn't like it quite as much as MyGO (which became one of my favorites) but I appreciate it doing things very differently and it has some great visuals. In particular what happened during the song in episode 10 was like a twisted version of MyGO's ep10 (although you could say that about the two shows as a whole really), where they kept glancing at their loved ones but the other doesn't look back in kind. The moment where Matsumi and Mortis reconcile with the staff member unmuting her was great too. The Hatsune reveal was strange with how it all plays within Hatsune's mind and then it jarringly cuts to the real world at the end. The way it's setup to be a big empty theater kind of made me think that she was maybe following a "script" or something, like she's built up a bunch of details out of her scattered memories and what she thinks Uika's memories are like that she then plays out in the real world. But either way there's still some details that are off, like why did Togawa allow her to join Sakiko's band when later on he's dead set on separating them? Some great voice acting work by Hatsune's seiyuu regardless, even though it was heavy on the dialogue she actually made it quite engaging. Also the real Uika became another off-screen mystery character just like Maki lol. Kinda weird that she just allows Hatsune to take on her persona in public all this time though, especially when she also wanted to be an idol. (Though she was just a child when she said that tbf) For a moment I was dreading things breaking apart again at the last moment after the Hatsune reveal but thankfully that didn't happen, although I guess there's not much room for anything happening when the last episode is basically just one big music show lol. But yeah the ending wasn't very satisfying since a lot of stuff felt unresolved: Nyamu and her rocky relationship with the band and especially Matsumi&Mortis don't feel finished yet, and we didn't really get to see what the reconciled M&M were like at all. Also Umiri finally got to do stuff at the end only to be upstaged by Sakiko bringing everyone together. I do like the music of this show a lot though, both KiLLKiSS and Imprisoned XII have become stuck in my head. So yeah, it was an uneven show that maybe had a few too many storylines that didn't quite mesh together but I liked it nonetheless. Exodee fucked around with this message at 22:35 on Sep 13, 2025 |

Oh wow that's quick, that makes me wonder if they knew beforehand because it'd explain why ep13 was the way it was lol. Looking forward to it though!

Agronox posted:Now that you’ve finished these two seasons, I’m curious: what are your thoughts on Raana? Her joining Tomori's solo performances and letting Mortis hang out with her cats was very sweet though. Actually she does have a bit of a hidden side to her, with the way she instantly picks up on Mortis and "interesting women" in general. She was also the one that brought Matsumi back first, so yeah, a fun character with some secret superpowers. Come to think of it, it was interesting how her grandma was actually on-screen even if just for a couple seconds, but that's more than what Taki's sister got. It would've been fun to see the two interact with each other but ah well maybe that's for S3.

Her grandma is a callback character to Seasons 1 and 3 of Bandori, and the Live House Raana has all her cats around is a major location for Season 1 that closed down in Season 2 or 3, I forget. It was called Space, so I guess you can see the theme naming for all the Live Houses that feature in this series.
