Anyway this was a completely worthy winner, a loving great show that had me gripped and has amazing writing, acting, cinematography, costumes…..just knocks it out of the park in every way. Thanks a lot for stepping up this year, Arist!

Thanks for sticking with this, everyone. I'm not totally sure how to get some of the more esoteric stats out of my data, so I might just post a link to a copy of the Google Sheet and let people take a gander for themselves. Shōgun and Fallout absolutely dominated this year, by the way. Not even close. Three times more people listed both than neither.

Thanks for running the thread this year. Unfortunate that I didn't make it before the deadline: definitely wouldn't have moved the needle much, but I think Industry and Interview might have placed a little higher.

Thanks for hosting the thread this year it’s one I enjoy participating in each time, I look forward to ranking tv with everyone later this year.

Yeah thanks a lot Arist, great work!

I probably should have put Agatha All Along on my list because I did really enjoy it and it is probably the most cleverly written of anything else in Marvel. But, it technically wasn't the best show on Disney+

Love Island got more votes than The Sympathizer?

Thanks Arist for not only starting the thread but doing a real countdown! I had Shogun at #1 but otherwise only 5 in the top 25. It's crazy how good Shogun was, and then we watched the 80's miniseries and it's crazy how good that was too (just don't look at the makeup, woof).

Thanks for all the hard work Arist, sorry I missed the countdown! A very, very, very, very deserving #1, what an amazing show. Seeing Doctor Who and Slow Horses tie feels like the universe either throwing me a bone or making fun of me, but either way I'll take it!

Thanks for running this, Arist! This was great. I’ll be going over the list again to catch up on the 2024 stuff I missed.

thanks for running this, Arist. i hope you're feeling better! i'm gonna rewatch The Curse, and finish Shogun, and maybe pick Fargo back up after bailing in mid season 2 bc it wasn't as strong as season 1.

Chiming in as well to say thanks, Arist! E: It's not worth bumping the thread, but I was thinking about how it's a bit ironic that I thought voting for Hacks would not matter but it gave it the single point it needed to tie The Bear lol demostars fucked around with this message at 11:13 on Feb 14, 2025 |

Honestly I'm surprised to see Fallout in so many people's top 10. For me it was a very solid 7\10. I think the fact that it's a show that was based on a videogame and wasn't absolutely awful has given it a undeserved boost. Reminds me a little bit of when Mandalorian Season 1 came out. Again, a solid 7\10 but I think people were just so relieved that it wasn't terrible that it was regarded as THE BEST SHOW EVAR

I don’t know about you but 7/10 is far and away a top 10 score for me. There aren’t that many good TV shows in a given year.

I put Fallout at #2 last year and there are already three shows this year that I would put above it even though they haven't aired all the episodes yet (Severance, White Lotus, Righteous Gemstones). Adolescence I've heard is good too, and we still have plenty of shows to come that I bet will be better than it (off the top of my head The Last of Us and The Rehearsal but I know there's more). The writer's strike in 2023 really seemed to gently caress a lot of shows over!

Vegetable posted:I don’t know about you but 7/10 is far and away a top 10 score for me. There aren’t that many good TV shows in a given year. 7\10 means it was decent and I finished watching it, but I wouldn't necessarily watch it again. 8\10 is where we start entering top 10 categories. I didn't watch that much 2024 TV last year (and stuff I did watch was generally catching up on other stuff) so I don't think I'd have too relevant of a Top 10 to contribute to the overall discussion, but something like Baby Reindeer or Shogun were in a class of their own.

Fallout was fun and I enjoyed watching it!

I thought it was pretty good too. I'm not really a video game person and had no experience or connection to the game or it might have cracked my top 10. It was fun and pretty confident in its style.

Fallout was a solid 8/10 for me, but honestly I'd rate everything in my 2-7 range an 8 and it was just vibes that determined where I put them. This right now is the year of the tentative 9s for me. I'm just hoping S2 does hit that same mark of quality, because with the story opening up to New Vegas shenanigans, the sky's the limit for crazy storylines now that we're out of the "tutorial" season.

I didn't really know where to post this but the old CW tv show thread seems to be dead - But I got the complete series of DC's Legends of Tomorrow! I love this show just wish they had 1 more season to finish things off.

Since this thread is getting bumped, when will the best of 2025 thread be posted and by whom? I forgot that the delay for the last years list was from Arist getting sick, thought it was due to the change in OPs. It was actually in-line with the past posts. Still wouldn't mind it if it's up around the 1st of December this time though, could tighten down the window a bit so that there's fewer shows that get duped if they air a good chunk of episodes in 2026. demostars fucked around with this message at 19:02 on Oct 27, 2025 |

I'm certainly available to run the show again this year, but I don't feel like I'm a very good steward of this so I'm open to letting someone else give it a shot.
