42) Metroid 43) Metroid II: The Return of Samus 44) Metroid Prime 4: Beyond - (100% scans and items) Prime 4 is definitely a game living in the shadow of Prime 1, and to me feels like the start of a new trilogy that could develop into something great. Aside from the npcs, desert, and one of the areas, this one is very clearly cribbing off of the Prime 1 style. You go to more or less the same types of areas from Prime 1 and get the same types of upgrades, though they do all have minor twists to them. The upgrades, aside from the bike and ones from the major bosses, are given very little fanfare and you usually just find them somewhere. It has a similar number of bosses to Prime 1, compared to 2's crazy boss bestiary. Prime 2 is my favorite Prime, and Prime 2 this game is not. I did enjoy it though, it is a beautiful looking game and still feels like Metroid Prime should for most of the playtime.

38. D2. Glad to finally play this, wish it was a harder/harsher game, the survival vibes get undercut a lot by how easily you blast your way across the wilderness. I ended the game with like 40 full heals in my pockets and hundreds of bullets and i wasnt even skimping or hoarding, you just collect that much stuff everywhere you turn. Great music.

Demon's Souls (PS3 emulated, Platinum, all items*) You guys are going to have trouble believing it but this game is really good. It's no surprise that Dark Souls was the breakout hit and that this one is the cult classic though- there's just so much rough around the edges. There's the big things that everyone talks about, like world tendency and item burden, but there's a million small things too. Like, they hadn't come up with the later poise system, so if you hit an enemy in neutral or a stun animation, you stun them, but if you hit them at any other point the enemy just carries through. Estus is an infinitely better system than grasses. Compressing the entire upgrade system to one regularly gated resource is so much less cumbersome. It's not a unique analysis, but Demon's Souls walked so Dark Souls could run. Everyone knows how cool Tower of Latria is, but I need to shout it out individually. People talk up Anor Londo or going down to Siofra as some incredible vista, but the moment where you have finally broken out of the Prison of Hope only to see that outside of the prison, with ominous spires in the distance and a giant stone spiderweb sillhouetted against the sky, is just as horrible as inside of the prison, is a wonderful spooky moment. A friend also pointed out that you can use Anti-Magic Field to neuter the Mindflayers in the dungeon, which is something that I don't think you would ever see in one of the later games- it would be that the spell only works in PvP or they don't count or something. Hell, Anti-Magic Field even worked on Fool's Idol, no fuckin way they're going let you just turn off every wizard boss's spells these days. Even though they tried to make Creepy Prison Areas again later in these games, they never hit the heights of Latria. It's not just Latria though, I like the whole asymmetrical world design- the way that each of the five worlds becomes easier to various degrees depending on what you've found, and that they give you different rewards. Magicians should go to Latria, clerics should go to the Shrine of Storms, and no one should go to the Valley of Defilement. If you need grass then its time to go to Boletaria, but if you need a better weapon, you need to explore Stonefang. To do something different, this time I forced myself that whenever I died, I would go collect my bloodstain and then explore a different zone. This isn't really something you can do so seamlessly in the later games, but it worked out super well here. Although I really like The Northern Lands of Boletaria, the overall world map of each soulsgame is something I like. The private server was a lot of fun to use. I actually got invaded, four times no less. It's disappointing that Elden Ring shied away from invasions, because these were some of the most memorable moments of this run. Getting to read messages was a treat too. In particular though, I finally got to experience World Tendency online, which was confusing and annoying, but an experience I finally got to have. Getting the platinum was pretty much the same as other Fromsoft games, but it's complicated by the addition of the item dupe glitch. I decided to dupe some stones so I wouldn't have to grind as much for the weapon upgrade achievements, but I did not dupe the Demons' Souls - playing NG+++ feels like a necessary component of platinuming one of these things. I did have to grind for the Pure Bladestone though, no way to avoid that. Anyways that's a billion words to say 10/10 can't wait to start the next one. *I installed a mod that let's you buy the Monk's headwrappings for 50,000 souls. I don't have the kind of patience necessary to be someone's old monk spawn.

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake Picked this up over Thanksgiving break and kinda just mainlined it. Very chill, very cozy. And it’s a decent challenge. Especially at the end. Loved every second and it looks amazing Final Fantasy VII A lot of fun but in a breezy way and wasn’t really challenging. A lot more simple than I remember. It was still fun though. dragon quest mogs final fantasy honestly

39. Metroid Prime (95% item collection, 7% scans, Normal). Ftw. The final phase of the final boss is pretty stupid, and its always been odd that theres no escape sequence after it.

13. clock tower - 10/22 gonna have to go back and 100% this one. 14. wolfenstein: the old blood - 10/23 i love this and the new order. the gunplay in these is so goddamn satisfying. 15. far cry 2 - 12/9 there's not really another game exactly like this one and i feel insane saying that about a loving open-world ubisoft release. it's rough around the edges, the missions that follow pretty much the same template 99% of the time (go here and blow up this truck or walk into this building and threaten/shoot a guy or hand a guy a stack of passports), and the open world is dull because aside from the occasional animal it doesn't really feel alive (no civilians, the factions never get into fights with each other - just a few animals, a couple of guys walking down the road and a couple of trucks going by). the combat would be pretty standard but you're always forced to improvise and stay moving because you're prone to bouts of malaria, your guns degrade and jam and eventually fly apart in your hands, you can start brushfires that almost immediately go out of control, you are extremely vulnerable and when you're down to your last bar of health you'll bleed out unless you heal (and it specifically takes longer to heal then), you never have enough ammo, and the whole world wants to kill you except for your gaggle of your fellow sociopathic assholes who will save your life, but are also there basically to make a third world civil war worse because it means more mercenary work. also when they get wounded you can just leave them for dead if you don't feel like sparing a first aid kit for them. and if you do save them more than three times then a first aid kit will not work on the next time and you'll just watch them die while the meds do nothing (the game does not warn you about this). this is a grim, cold, brutal game that hates you and makes you into a shithead monster and it kind of rocks.

What happened to the Crew? A text based deduction game similar to Type Help. Unfortunately I didn't think it came together as satisfyingly as Type Help did.
