I'm at episode 4 and the lore of Interior Chinatown is chaotic and I love it. Protagonist just straight up living on vampire logic, with the universe contorting to stop him from entering places he hasn't been invited. Someone uninvites you, cop with sunglasses magically manifests from nowhere and shoves you out. Steal the headphones of the IT-guy, you have now absorbed his essence and have in turn become the IT-guy.

I'm kinda scared to see where this premise is going.

I remember loving Kimmy Schmidt when the first season came out, liking the second and third, and never getting around to the fourth. I should really finish it sometime, or at least rewatch the first season. drat, it’s ten years old this year!

I did think it was funny how UKS was this funny, positive, upbeat show without being too cloying like Parks and Recs could be… and then you’d get the occasional episode where Tina Fey indulged in wealthy white liberal boomer grievance politics about how racist she should be allowed to be without criticism from woke millennials or how she really shouldn’t need to pay teachers so much.

Adult Swim Yule Log 2: Branching Out is pretty good. The Mulholland Drive / Lynch sequence in the freezer is excellent, the absolute best example of someone aping that style outside the man himself.

The whole thing is obviously a piss take, but I was surprised how much I genuinely wanted Zoe to have a happy ending with her dumb Hallmark toned and themed family.

Excellent puppets.

Look, the show will occasionally have bad things just happen, some quite bad, but it's a fun silly show nearly all the way through its run. The cast are blatantly having an absolute blast, and their joy is infectious. It ends on a bright note of camp.

The show it most reminds me of is The X-Files but with the character tone of Farscape -- if Farscape was about middle class, middle aged lifelong professionals. Everyone is a mess and they go a bit crazy, and the show has fun and horror at their expense. But it was never really a downer, overall.

Yeah, I think it deserves some points for managing to be decent. I liked Yule Log but a lot of it was carried by how crazy it was watching it the 1st night when no one knew what was going to happen. I didn't figure that they'd be able to do something entertaining again once people knew what to expect, but I think they pulled it off well.

The hallmark parodies were good enough to carry it and there was enough weirdness to keep the spirit up.

I've been ill this past week so I started watching Parenthood for some low stakes family stuff to entertain me while I'm wasting away the hours in bed and on the couch and to have something on while gaming and recovering and I'm enjoying it a lot. I'm still on the first season.

When they introduced the kid having fairly severe (but high functioning) autism I was super fearful and kind of expecting the worst, preparing myself to having to find another show to watch, but it's actually one of the best portrayals of a kid with those issues I've ever seen? I work with kids like that so it's personal to me and having a person with autism treated as a token or gimmick can really ruin a show for me, but so far I have zero complaints. They've really nailed it, showing both the good and the bad, having him be a fully rounded character, to the point where if someone would ask me what my job is like I could just tell them to watch this show.

Kudos to the creators, but also/especially to the actor because he's doing an amazing job.

The Agency is getting really good after a somewhat mediocre start. I wonder if they will actually use footage of the Wagner Rebellion from June 2023 as part of the plotline involving 'Valhalla PMC' to use its commander's paranoia to have him turn on the Russian government. I'm neither too surprised nor upset. The Franchise was like The Regime, both high-concept shows that I really wanted to like, and didn't really dislike, but they just never lived up to the promise, despite some strong bits throughout. It's kind of telling that IMO the best parts of The Franchise were the fake "interview" bits where Richard E. Grant was alone on screen monologing directly to the camera about the good old days of playing racist stereotypes.

Joe Pera Talks with You, a three season Adult Swim show that is currently on Max. Stars comedian Joe Pera as Joe Pera, a choir teacher on the upper peninsula of Michigan. Each episode is supposed to be Joe talking about a topic but they almost always spin out of control. Like the first episode has his talk about mining interrupted by some potential home buyers thinking his house was for sale and Joe being unsure if he needs to honor their offer. The show is like the opposite of cringe comedy where things are just wholesome and friendly. Not to say there isn't any conflict but it is usually low key.
