the supposed concerns over data privacy issues are great. nebulous hand-wavy bullshit that can't point to any specifics because the congresspeople complaining about it have specifically avoided drafting any specifics--they really rather should, but god forbid they create an actual data privacy law that american companies would need to comply with granted, they'd probably do a poo poo job, but a consistent poo poo job would arguably be better than the patchwork legal landscape we're slowly getting between different state (and, to a lesser degree, EU) laws

Part of Elon's / Zuckerberg's master plan for buying / buying into the administration is that other countries are likely to crack down on data collection and sites lacking content moderation. Those sites really haven't had countermeasures for those countries - like how Elon had to yield to fuckin brazil. Now, they might have their Good Buddy Donnie to threaten tariffs, or some other legal mechanism, for preventing one of the Great American Monopolies from making their number go up (while exporting chudism to the masses). And woooof, we're basically done with lawsuits against any kind of crypto. Going to be very funny when the Strategic Bitcoin Reserve gets hacked.

Can someone help me figure out what this means? Are Michigan workers losing tips, while wages go up? I work in an industry where we get cash tips and an okay rate per hour (just got a raise to $16 an hour, baby!), but I don't think this really affects me. My brother, though, manages a restaurant, and I'm wondering how this may affect his tipped workers. Will they be paid more, but still allowed tips? Maybe I'm missing something because I've got a headache, but what does this really mean?

My brother, though, manages a restaurant, and I'm wondering how this may affect his tipped workers. Will they be paid more, but still allowed tips? From what the article is saying, the "tipped wage" will be 32% of the 16/hr ($5.12/hr) and the employees tips should "top them off" to the full $16/hr. In the event that tips do not make up that difference, the employer has to make up the difference. So, from a restaurant's perspective, they were likely paying something like a $2.50/hour tipped wage and were likely on the hook to make up the difference to top off the original minimum wage (likely something around $7-$10/hr). Now, payroll for all restaurants that paid that original, lower, tipped wage has had their payroll increase by whatever percentage (possibly doubling). You will quickly find out which places near you were making a decent profit, as they will be able to remain open. The remainder will now start their slow spiral into closure as their business model was dependent on customers subsidizing the employee wages via tips.

What's the legal precedence for this? The executive has nothing to do with whether or not amendments to the constitution are ratified. Did the states finally ratify this while I wasn't looking?

Did the states finally ratify this while I wasn't looking? They crossed the necessary threshold years ago. The problem is that unlike every prior amendment, Congress attached a deadline to this one. The question before the court is whether Congress has the power to do that or if the Constitution’s prescription of the amendment process is complete and controlling.

That is the very, very first step kicking off a legal battle, as the archivist is the first step and the archivist feels they're bound by the OLC opinions. Biden is not directing the archivist to do anything, so the archivist will do nothing, so this is just mouth noises. But for comedy: DC is apparently getting snow and is very cold on Monday, so Donnie moved all the inauguration poo poo indoors. And the fucko is trying to convince everyone that he's hyper-popular and can take a place like Greenland.
